Chapter Six — Entry into Eternal Saketa
The five elemental coverings together with ego and the cosmic intellect make seven coverings of nature. Having crossed also the innumerable formations of its three qualities, the seeker bathes in the Viraja. (45, completed)
Sa-vāsanaṃ deha-dvayaṃ visṛjya virajo bhavet,
Ativegena tāṃ tīrtvā prāpya Sāketakaṃ tathā. (46)
Casting off the subtle and causal bodies together with all their latent impressions, the soul becomes stainless. Swiftly crossing the Viraja, it reaches Saketa.
The subtle body belongs to the dream state and is described through seventeen principles; the causal body belongs to deep sleep and bears the two powers of concealment and projection. When both are abandoned, the soul plunges into the Viraja, crosses with extraordinary speed, and is received with great honour by Bhagavan’s eternal companions, who escort it to Saketa.
Praviśya rāja-mārgeṇa saptāvaraṇa-saṃyutam,
Nānā-ratnamayaṃ divyaṃ Śrī-Rāma-bhavanaṃ śubham. (47)
Proceeding along the royal road, the soul enters the auspicious and divine palace of Sri Rama, fashioned from many kinds of jewels and encircled by seven enclosures.
Tatra Śrī-Bharatādibhiḥ sevyamānaṃ sadā prabhum,
Virājamānaṃ Vaidehyā ratna-siṃhāsane śubhe. (48)
There, upon an auspicious jewelled throne, the soul beholds Vaidehi’s beloved Lord, forever shining beside her and eternally served by Bharata and the other companions.
Sva-bhāvanayā Śrī-Rāmaṃ prāpya sarva-sukha-pradam,
Parānandamayo bhūtvāvasthānaṃ phalam ucyate. (49, continues)
Attaining Sri Rama, giver of every happiness, in accordance with one’s own devotional contemplation, the soul becomes filled with supreme bliss and abides there. This is called the fruit of attainment.
