Passage 1
जनक उवाच— अथाश्रावय मे ब्रह्मन् लीलां रसमयीं पराम्। प्रमोदवनराज्ञ्याः श्रीसहजायाः सनातनीम्॥१॥
Janaka said: Holy one, now cause me to hear the eternal, supreme, rasa-filled līlā of Śrī Sahajā, queen of Pramodavana.
Passage 2
मानस्य हेतुमाख्याहि परे धाम्नि विलासिनोः। येनान्तर्धिमगादेषा द्वैतीयिकभावावधिः॥२॥
Tell me the cause of the loving displeasure between those two who sport in the supreme realm, through which she, the furthest limit of intimate love, vanished.
Passage 3
एनां हि शृण्वतो नूनं मम श्रीसहजाश्रयाम्। कथामद्भुतरूपां वै औत्कण्ठ्यं वर्धतेऽनिशम्॥३॥
As I hear this wondrous account centered on Śrī Sahajā, my longing surely increases without cease.
Passage 4
श्रीशुक उवाच— मानस्य कारणं वक्ष्ये सहजाया विशेषतः। इयं रहस्यगा लीला गोपनीया प्रयत्नतः॥४॥
Śrī Śuka said: I shall tell the particular cause of Sahajā's māna. This līlā belongs to the mysteries and must be carefully guarded.
Passage 5
कदाचित्सहजानन्दा प्रमोदवननायिका। उत्फुल्लमालतीमल्लीमाधुरीमधुरे मधौ॥५॥
Once Sahajānanda, heroine of Pramodavana, dwelt in springtime sweet with fully blossomed mālatī and jasmine.
Passage 6
अत्युत्कण्ठावशात्कान्ते प्रेषयामास दूतिकाम्। सा तं कुन्दवने स्थाप्य समेता सहजान्तिके॥६॥
Overcome by intense longing for her lover, she sent a messenger. The messenger placed him in the jasmine grove and returned to Sahajā. The Messenger and Sahajā's Adornment
Passage 7
दूतिकोवाच— अहमानीय रामेन्दुं कान्तं कुन्दवने तव। स्थापयित्वा समायाता सहजेऽस्मि त्वदन्तिके॥७॥
The messenger said: Sahajā, I brought your moonlike beloved Rāma, placed him in your jasmine grove, and have returned to you.
Passage 8
त्वमिदानीं व्रज स्वैरं कामुकं रामवल्लभम्। त्वदागमनकाङ्क्षाभिरनिमेषविलोचनम्॥८॥
Go freely now to the amorous and beloved Rāma, whose unblinking eyes yearn for your arrival.
Passage 9
तत्र गत्वा कुन्दवने स्वैरं विहर कामिनम्। इदानीं मा विलम्बिष्ठाः श्रीरामस्तत्र सीदति॥९॥
Go there and sport freely with your lover in the jasmine grove. Do not delay now; Śrī Rāma languishes there.
Passage 10
त्वदाननं समालोक्य सद्यो वितिमिरीकृताः। दिशो निभालयन्नास्ते चकोरीकृतलोचनः॥१०॥
He sits gazing toward the directions, his eyes like cakora birds; the moment he sees your face, their darkness will disappear.
Passage 11
तत्र तं सहसा गत्वा रमयस्व रमात्मिके। त्वयैकरमणाकाङ्क्षापरिसक्ताखिलग्रहम्॥११॥
Embodiment of delight, go to him at once and please him, for every faculty of his is absorbed in longing to sport with you alone.
Passage 12
इति दूतीवचः श्रुत्वा प्रिया गन्तुमसज्जत। सहजानन्दिनी साक्षाद्रतिकोटिगुणाधिका॥१२॥
Hearing the messenger's words, the beloved prepared to go. Sahajānandinī herself exceeds millions of goddesses of love in virtue.
Passage 13
अथावर्तनमातेनुस्तस्याः सख्यो मुदान्विताः। कुङ्कुमैः कालागुरुभिः कस्तूरीभिः सचन्दनैः॥१३॥
Her joyful companions anointed her body with saffron, dark aloe, musk, and sandalwood.
Passage 14
ततस्तां स्नपयांचक्रुः स्नानकर्मविचक्षणाः। सुगन्धिभिः सुमधुरैः स्रोतोभिः साक्षोदकैः॥१४॥
Skilled in the bathing rite, they bathed her with fragrant, exceedingly sweet streams mixed with perfumed water.
Passage 15
तस्याः स्नान्त्याः सुरभिसलिलान्युद्गतानि प्रणाल्या— सौरभ्योद्गारिभिरतितरां भूरिवर्णैः प्रवाहैः। चक्रुस्तृप्तिं बहुविधां तस्याः स्नान्त्या मार्गेषु गत्वा— चित्तेष्वन्तः सकलसुखमयीं प्रेमवृत्तिं प्रसार्य॥१५॥
The fragrant waters flowing from the bathing lady passed through channels in abundant, many-colored streams, spreading within minds a love-filled disposition made of every joy and granting manifold satisfaction along their paths.
Passage 16
स्नातायां धूपयामासुरधूपैः कालागुरूद्भवैः। तस्याः केशानार्द्रवरान् सख्यो धूपनपण्डिताः॥१६॥
After her bath, the companions skilled in perfuming dried her excellent wet hair with incense made from dark aloe.
Passage 17
सुधूपिताश्चिकुराः श्यामवर्णाः स्निग्धच्छायाः सहजाया विरेजुः। मुखाम्बुजोद्गारिणिसौरभौघैः सुसंगता भ्रमराणामिवालयः॥१७॥
Sahajā's well-perfumed, dark, glossy hair shone, joined with waves of fragrance from her lotus face like a dwelling of bees.
Passage 18
अथैनां भूषयामासुः सख्यो भूषणदक्षिणाः। पावकं पदयोर्धृत्वा विचित्राकारतावहम्॥१८॥
Then her companions, expert in ornamentation, decorated her, placing brilliant dye upon her feet in wondrous designs.
Passage 19
साङ्गुष्ठमङ्गुलिगणं मण्डयांचक्रुरुञ्चकैः। चटकध्वानिनीभूषास्तिसृभिर्विविधवत्स्त्रियः॥१९॥
They adorned her toes and fingers with rings and three kinds of ornaments that chimed like sparrows.
Passage 20
तुलाकोटीनिधापादयोः किङ्किणीः पर्यभूषयन्। मञ्जरीक्रमसंलग्नाः कलहंसनिनादिनीः॥२०॥
They adorned her feet with anklets and rows of little bells that sounded like royal swans.
Passage 21
मध्ये च मेखलां धृत्वा पर्यबध्नन् गुणेन ताम्। मुक्तासरं मणिसरं तथा काञ्चनमालिकाम्॥२१॥
They fastened a girdle around her waist and placed strands of pearls and jewels and a golden necklace upon her.
Passage 22
उच्चैःस्तवकहारं च तथान्याश्चैव मालिकाः। उरोजयोरन्यधुस्तस्यास्तथा कण्ठसराधिकम्॥२२॥
They set a tall cluster-garland and other necklaces upon her breasts and an especially lovely strand around her throat.
Passage 23
सौभाग्यसूत्रमेवापि कण्ठे कम्बुसमत्विषि। करयोर्वलयान्प्रास्य भुजयोरङ्गदे न्यधुः॥२३॥
They placed the thread of good fortune around her conch-radiant neck, bracelets on her wrists, and armlets upon her arms.
Passage 24
नासिभूषां ध्रुवि न्यस्य श्रुत्योर्भूषागणं व्यधुः। तारकागणसंशोभिमुक्ताफलगुणेन ताः॥२४॥
They fixed a nose ornament and arrays of ear ornaments, beautified by strands of pearls like hosts of stars.
Passage 25
आननं मण्डयांचक्रुस्तस्याः सख्यो विचक्षणाः। कबरीं गुम्फयामासुः पट्टसूत्रान्तरस्थितैः॥२५॥
Her discerning companions adorned her face and braided her hair with silk threads woven through it.
Passage 26
मणिभिर्मौक्तिकैश्चैव गजमुक्ताफलैस्तथा। सीमन्तं पूरयामासुर्युक्तसिन्दूररेखया॥२६॥
With jewels, pearls, and large elephant pearls, they filled the parting of her hair and joined it with a line of vermilion.
Passage 27
गजमुक्ताफलैः स्थूलैः सन्ध्याभ्रमिव तारकैः। ललाटं मण्डयांचक्रुस्तस्याः कुङ्कुमपत्रकैः॥२७॥
They adorned her forehead with large elephant pearls like stars upon a twilight cloud and with saffron designs.
Passage 28
कस्तूरीबिन्दुना चैव महाभाग्यैकमन्दिरम्। तदोष्ठं रञ्जयामासुर्यावकैः पल्लवोपमम्॥२८॥
They completed that single temple of great fortune with a musk dot and colored her sproutlike lips with red lac.
Passage 29
कञ्चुकीमर्पयामासुः कुचयोः सौरभान्विताम्। ताम्बूलवीटिकां दत्त्वा रञ्जयामासुराननम्॥२९॥
They placed a fragrant bodice over her breasts and brightened her face by giving her a roll of betel.
Passage 30
तां परीधापयामासुश्चीरं सुमहदुज्ज्वलम्। सोत्तरीयं महारत्नमौक्तिकस्तबकाञ्चितम्॥३०॥
They dressed her in a splendid radiant garment with an upper cloth adorned by clusters of great jewels and pearls.
Passage 31
एवं विभूष्यमाणायामस्यां मालाञ्जने भृशम्। अगच्छत्यधुयामिन्या याम एकः क्षणाधिकः॥३१॥
While she was thus richly adorned with garlands and cosmetics, more than one watch of the night passed. Rāma Waits in Anguish

तावत्तत्र स्थितो रामो विषण्णः कामसायकैः। युवावसन्तसंफुल्लमाधवीसौरभाविलैः। उद्वेजितमनाः श्रीमान् सहसा पर्यचिन्तयत्॥३२॥
Meanwhile Rāma remained there, despondent beneath Love's arrows. Young and disturbed by the fragrance of spring-blooming mādhavī, the glorious Lord suddenly began to wonder.
Passage 33
दूती तत्र गता न वा गुणवती याताथवा मानिनी— शुद्धा वापि विलम्बिताङ्गवसनालङ्काररागादिभिः। प्राप्ता वातिघने प्रमोदविपिने प्राप्ता मुहुः सम्भ्रमम्— हुंहो हन्त हृतः कथं नु सहजानन्दाद्य मां संगतः॥३३॥
“Did the worthy messenger reach her or not? Has the proud and pure lady begun her journey, delayed by bathing, dress, ornaments, and cosmetics? Has she lost her way in dense Pramodavana? Alas, why has Sahajānanda not come to me today?”
Passage 34
व्योमाधूमो दृश्यतेऽभ्रभातनुरुचयो जाग्रतो विस्फुलिङ्गाः— हन्तेदं चन्द्रबिम्बं ज्वलति हुतवहश्चन्द्रिका तस्य कीला। यूनः प्राणा हवींषि स्वरति पिकवाक् पञ्चमालापमन्त्रैः— कालोऽयं साधु यज्वा कुसुमशरविधिश्चन्दनोत्था नीलर्त्विक्॥३४॥
Smoke appears in the sky, cloud-light glows as sparks, the moon's disk burns like fire, and moonlight is its flame. A young man's life-breaths are the offerings, the cuckoo chants fifth-note mantras, Time is the sacrificer, Love's floral-arrow rite the sacrifice, and the dark sandal-born night its priest.
Passage 35
हा सीते सहजे सितासिततमे साकेतलक्ष्मि परे— पूर्णचिन्मयचित्तचन्द्रकिरणश्रेणीचमत्कारिणि। दत्तप्रेमरसावलम्बनमहो कान्ते जनं मादृशं— कामक्रूरकठोरसायकहतिं कृत्वा भृशं मा कुरु॥३५॥
“Alas, Sītā! Sahajā! Fairest of fair and dark, supreme Lakṣmī of Sāketa, you enchant the rays of the moon of the perfectly conscious heart. Beloved, you gave me the support of love's rasa; do not now strike someone like me so fiercely with Love's cruel, hard arrows.
Passage 36
गुणवति तावकीने मधुहासविशिष्टमुखेन्दुरुचिप्रसरे— मधुसमयेऽपराधरहिते प्रणयैकपराजितके रमणे। वितथमियतीमीश्वरि विलम्बमिमं न कुरुष्व कदापि परम्— न सहति कालशक्तिरतिमात्रवियोगभवं परितापमिमम्॥३६॥
“Virtuous lady, in springtime, when your moon-face spreads the radiance of its honeyed smile and your blameless lover is conquered by love alone, do not impose this fruitless delay. Time's power cannot bear the torment born from even a moment's separation.”
Passage 37
इत्थं प्रलपमानस्य तस्य पूर्णमहेशितुः। कालशक्तिः स्वानुचरी प्रभुं साक्षादुवाच ह॥३७॥
As the complete supreme Lord lamented in this way, his attendant, the power of Time, spoke directly to him.
Passage 38
कालशक्तिरुवाच— अहं कृष्णा सखी नाम तावकीना गुणोदया। त्वमिच्छसि यमानन्दं तं साक्षादुपसादये॥३८॥
The power of Time said: I am your companion named Kṛṣṇā, arisen from virtue. I shall directly bring you the bliss you desire.
Passage 39
कालशक्तिरहं कृष्णा ज्ञानशक्तिस्तु जानकी। क्रियाशक्तिः कला नाम प्रेमशक्तिश्च मोदिनी॥३९॥
I, Kṛṣṇā, am Time-power; Jānakī is knowledge-power; Kalā is action-power; and Modinī is love-power.
Passage 40
अन्याश्च शक्तयोऽनन्ता योषिद्रूपमुपाश्रिताः। प्रभुं गुणनिधिं कान्तं भवन्तं पर्युपासते॥४०॥
Countless other powers assume feminine forms and worship you, their beloved Lord and treasury of virtues.
Passage 41
सर्वासां रञ्जनं कार्यं प्रभुणा भवता प्रभो। एतद्धि सौष्ठवं नाथ स्वामिनः स्वामिनीष्वपि॥४१॥
Lord, as their master you should delight them all. This indeed is the excellence of a master toward his mistresses. Kṛṣṇā Conceals the Grove

इति ब्रुवाणां तां कृष्णां कोटिचन्द्रावलिप्रभाम्। इन्द्रनीलमणिप्रख्यनीलमेघतनुद्युतिम्॥४२॥
As Kṛṣṇā spoke, she shone like rows of millions of moons, her dark-cloud body gleaming like sapphire.
Passage 43
ज्योत्स्नायतीं तडिल्लेखां स्वर्णकोटितनुप्रभाम्। सर्वावयवशोभाढ्यां हसन्तीं कामुकीं प्रियाम्॥४३॥
Like moonlight and a streak of lightning, her body's splendor equaled millions of golden forms. Every limb was beautiful as the amorous beloved smiled.
Passage 44
वीक्ष्य कान्तः स्थितो दृग्भ्यां सद्यः कामविमोहितः। अविध्यत चलैस्तस्याः कटाक्षैः काममार्गणैः॥४४॥
Seeing her, the lover stood instantly bewildered by desire; her darting glances pierced him as Love's arrows.

ततस्तयातिकामुक्या दृढकं समयुज्यत कामुकः। रन्तुमेकान्ततः स्वैरं सुखैर्निधुवनोद्भवैः॥४५॥
The ardent lovers joined in a firm embrace to sport freely in seclusion through the pleasures of amorous play.
Passage 46
कालशक्तिः स्वयं साक्षात् सा तु कृष्णा गुणोदया। अदृश्यमकरोत्कुञ्जं तस्मिन् कुन्दवने महत्॥४६॥
Kṛṣṇā, the virtue-born power of Time herself, made the great bower in that jasmine grove invisible.
Passage 47
दिव्यं तमः समसृजत् क्रीडास्थानं न्यगृहयत्। तत्र रेमे तया रामश्चिदानन्दगुणाकरः॥४७॥
She created divine darkness and concealed the place of play. There Rāma, treasury of conscious bliss, delighted with her.
Passage 48
नवं निधुवनं प्राप्य कृष्णायां रामकामुकः। तद्गुणैः सहजां गौरीं त्रिसस्मार वशंवदः॥४८॥
Having entered fresh love-play with Kṛṣṇā, the amorous Rāma, captivated by her qualities, remembered fair Sahajā three times. Sahajā Searches Pramodavana
Passage 49
अथ श्रीसहजानन्दा दूतीवचनलोभिता। कृताङ्गविविधाकल्पा रन्तुं पर्यचलद् गृहात्॥४९॥
Then Śrī Sahajānanda, enticed by the messenger's words and adorned in many ways, left her home to sport.
Passage 50
सखीभिः सहिता साक्षात्सहजानन्दिनी स्वयम्। विवेश विपिनं घोरं प्रमोदवनगह्वरम्॥५०॥
Sahajānandinī herself entered the deep and formidable forest of Pramodavana with her companions.
Passage 51
न प्राप तिमिरच्छन्नं कुन्दकुञ्जवनं महत्। मधुचन्द्रोदयज्योत्स्नागोचरं यावदीक्षितम्॥५१॥
She could not find the great jasmine-bower forest, hidden in darkness, though it should have been visible in the moonlight of spring.
Passage 52
तावदन्वेषितं भूयः प्रमोदविपिने तया। सखीभिः सहिता साध्वी सहजानन्दिनी स्वयम्॥५२॥
The virtuous Sahajānandinī and her companions therefore searched Pramodavana again and again.
Passage 53
बभ्राम विपिनं तत्र पृच्छन्ती खलु तांस्तरून्। अथ तत्र तृषार्ता सा पीत्वा श्रीसरयूजलम्। विलोक्य दिव्यया दृष्ट्या प्रोवाच वचनं सखीः॥५३॥
She wandered through the forest, questioning its trees. Then, tormented by thirst, she drank the Sarayū's water, perceived through divine sight, and spoke to her companions.
Passage 54
श्रीसहजोवाच— कियद्यावदिदं घोरं वनमद्य गवेषितम्। गौर्या मया ततो ज्ञातं रामः कृष्णामुपासते॥५४॥
Śrī Sahajā said: How long we have searched this forbidding forest today! Through my fair divine form I have now learned that Rāma is attending upon Kṛṣṇā.
Passage 55
कृष्णा च जानकी चैव कला चैव हि मोदिनी। एताः पिबन्ति कान्तास्यसारं प्रेमसुधारसम्॥५५॥
Kṛṣṇā, Jānakī, Kalā, and Modinī all drink the essential nectar of love from the beloved's mouth.
Passage 56
इत उत्थाय सख्यश्च दीपिकापाणयोऽग्रतः। यात कुन्दवनं सर्वा ध्रियतां कामुकाधमः॥५६॥
Rise from here, companions, and go ahead with lamps in hand to the jasmine grove. Let that lowest of lovers be seized!
Passage 57
धृत्वा बद्ध्वा समानीय दण्ड्योऽयं वश्यकामुकः। इत्युत्साहवतीर्गोपीरनुयुज्य स्वयं च सा॥५७॥
He must be caught, bound, brought here, and punished—that lover enslaved by desire! Thus she rallied the enthusiastic gopīs and herself joined them.
Passage 58
अनुकुन्दवनं सद्यः सहजा पर्यगच्छत। अथ कृष्णा भयत्रस्ता सहजायाः समागमात्। उवाच रमणं वाक्यं दृढबन्धरतिस्थिता॥५८॥
Sahajā immediately approached the jasmine grove. Terrified by her arrival even while held in a firm embrace, Kṛṣṇā spoke to her lover.
Passage 59
कृष्णोवाच— इदं कुन्दवनं नाम सहजाया विहारभूः। स्थातव्यं नो चिरमिह स्वस्थानस्थोऽखिलः शुभः॥५९॥
Kṛṣṇā said: This jasmine grove is Sahajā's pleasure ground. We must not remain here; safety lies in one's own place.
Passage 60
सहजायाः सखीनां वै आयान्तीनामितस्ततः। मञ्जीरकिङ्किणीघोषैर्व्याप्ता कुन्दवनस्थली। नात्रास्थातुमितो युक्तं पारक्ये कुन्दकानने॥६०॥
The jasmine grove resounds everywhere with the anklets and bells of Sahajā's approaching companions. It is not proper for us, illicit lovers, to remain here. The Evidence of the Secret Tryst
Passage 61
श्रीराम उवाच— मनोऽभिलषितं देशं तमेव नय मां प्रिये। इत्युक्तः स तया रामो नीतः स्वस्थानमादरात्॥६१॥
Śrī Rāma said: Beloved, take me to the place your heart desires. At his request, she respectfully led Rāma to her own place.
Passage 62
योगशक्त्या स्वया तत्र निभृतं योगरूपया। दृढबन्धस्थितावेवैतौ कृष्णारामकामुकौ॥६२॥
Through her own yoga-power and yogic form, the lovers Kṛṣṇā and Rāma remained secluded there in a firm embrace.
Passage 63
विकसद्भूरिमन्दारं कृष्णावनमुपेयतुः। अथ श्रीसहजानन्दा दूतीनिर्दिष्टवर्त्मना॥६३॥
Kṛṣṇā and Rāma reached her forest filled with blooming mandāra trees. Meanwhile Śrī Sahajānanda followed the path indicated by the messenger.
Passage 64
अगात् कुन्दवने कुञ्जे यत्र रामः पुरा स्थितः। कामुक्या कृष्णया युक्तः कुर्वाणः सुरतोत्सवम्॥६४॥
She reached the bower in the jasmine grove where Rāma had previously stayed and celebrated love with the passionate Kṛṣṇā.
Passage 65
तत्र गत्वा सखीवृन्दैः साकं श्रीसहजेश्वरी। व्यचष्ट रतिचिह्नानि मध्ये कुञ्जे यथोदिते॥६५॥
Arriving with her companions, sovereign Sahajā saw the signs of lovemaking in the bower the messenger had described.
Passage 66
नवकिसलयशय्या मर्दिता दृश्यतेऽसौ निधुवनपरिवर्तावर्तसंवर्तनैः। विलुठति मणिमाला मेखलायुक्तसूत्रा विगलितवलयार्धं चाप्यहो कुञ्जधूली॥६६॥
The bed of fresh leaves was crushed by the lovers' turning and rolling. A jeweled necklace lay scattered, with a girdle-thread and half a fallen bracelet in the bower's dust.
Passage 67
मुहुरिति विमनस्का भ्रुवमुद्वीक्ष्य दूत्या— मुखमवनतमुच्चैर्लज्जया धिग्धिगाह। अधवति ननु धिङ्मां त्वन्मृषोपायि यातां— धिगधरमणमेनं योषां वृषल्यं जगाम॥६७॥
Distressed, she repeatedly raised her brows at the messenger, whose face bent low in shame, and cried, “Shame, shame! Or rather shame on me for trusting your false device. Shame on this lowest lover, who has gone to a disreputable woman!”
Passage 68
केयं दैवहतस्याहो युवती विहितस्पृहा। इहापि सहजाधाम्नि या महोद्धतमानसा॥६८॥
Who is this young woman desired by that ill-fated man, so exceedingly insolent in Sahajā's own realm?
Passage 69
एवमादीनि बहुधा वचांस्यभ्युज्जगाद सा। कृष्णासक्तं प्रियं वीक्ष्य बहुरोषरसाविला॥६९॥
Seeing her beloved attached to Kṛṣṇā, she uttered many such words, clouded by the rasa of intense anger. Sahajā's Vow and Manifestations
Passage 70
भूषणं वसनं रागं हारान् कुसुममालिकाः। विदधाना सदाङ्गेभ्यो वेपमानाधरा रुषा॥७०॥
Her lips trembling with anger, she cast ornaments, garments, cosmetics, necklaces, and flower garlands from her limbs.
Passage 71
सहजोवाच— न तथान्यरतिं वीक्ष्य विद्रूपे सुखवर्जिता। यथा मद्वञ्चनं वीक्ष्य विद्रूपेऽहं निजे हृदि॥७१॥
Sahajā said: I am not deprived of happiness merely by seeing another union, contemptible man, as much as I am by seeing the deception of me within my own heart.
Passage 72
य एवं रमते नित्यं रसिकेन्द्रो हि धूर्तधीः। तस्याहं कैतवं महाधूर्तस्य योगतः॥७२॥
This supreme rasika always plays with a rogue's mind. Through yoga I shall withdraw from that great rogue's deceit.
Passage 73
इति प्रीतिपणं कृत्वा सहजा स्त्रीस्वभावतः। सरय्वा वै तटे सद्यः स्त्रोतोरूपा बभूव ह॥७३॥
Having made this pledge of love in accordance with a woman's nature, Sahajā immediately became a river-current upon the Sarayū's bank.

विख्याता सा स्वयं लक्ष्मीर्लिप्सुर्लोकेषु पुण्यवाट्। इत्थं मानवती भूत्वा सहजा स्वालिभिः सह॥७४॥
She became renowned in the worlds as Lakṣmī herself, a sacred place sought by all. Thus Sahajā assumed māna together with her companions.
Passage 75
प्रमोदवनमभ्येत्य पालीग्रामे बभूव सा। मानस्य कारणं प्रोक्तं सहजायाः पुराणगम्॥७५॥
Entering Pramodavana, she appeared in Pālī village. Thus the ancient cause of Sahajā's māna has been told.
Passage 76
एवं सा नन्दनगृहे बभूव सहजेश्वरी। रामः कृष्णारतिं भुक्त्वा सहजाकुञ्जमागमत्॥७६॥
In this way sovereign Sahajā appeared in Nandana's house. After enjoying love with Kṛṣṇā, Rāma came to Sahajā's grove.
Passage 77
तत्र श्रुत्वा यथावृत्तं सहजायास्तथा गतिम्। आसीद्विषण्णहृदयस्तदेकसुखमानसः॥७७॥
Learning there what had happened and where Sahajā had gone, he became heartsick, for his mind found joy in her alone.
Passage 78
ज्ञात्वावतीर्णां सहजां श्रीनन्दनगृहे प्रियाम्। स्वयमप्यवतीर्णो वै सुखितस्य गृहे प्रभुः॥७८॥
Knowing that his beloved Sahajā had descended into Śrī Nandana's home, the Lord himself descended into Sukhita's house.
Passage 79
स्वयं रामो नदो भूत्वा सरयूं प्रति संगतः। नदीरूपेण रेयाते तत्र तौ दिव्यविग्रहौ॥७९॥
Rāma himself became a male river and joined the Sarayū. In river forms, the two divine bodies shine there.
Passage 80
इदं यः सहजेशान्याः शृणुयान्मानकारणम्। प्रादुर्भावं चापि तस्याः श्रीनन्दनगृहे पुनः॥८०॥
Whoever hears the cause of sovereign Sahajā's māna and her later appearance in Śrī Nandana's house—
Passage 81
तस्य भक्तस्य सहजा करोति कुशलं स्वयम्। प्रेमाणं रामपदयोर्वर्धिष्णुं प्रतिवासरम्॥८१॥
—Sahajā herself grants that devotee well-being and love for Rāma's feet that increases day by day.
Passage 82
लभते नियतं मर्त्यो नात्र कार्या विचारणा। इदं रहस्यमखिलं मद्भक्तेभ्यः प्रगोपयेत्। कृष्णायाश्चैव रामस्य सहजायाः कथानकम्॥८२॥
The mortal surely obtains this; no doubt need be entertained. One should carefully conceal this entire mystery—the account of Kṛṣṇā, Rāma, and Sahajā—from those who are not my devotees.
