Passage 1

पुरुष उवाच— ये मज्जनं करिष्यन्ति तव प्रेममये जले। तेषां रामपदाम्भोजे भवित्री रतिरुत्तमा॥१॥

The Puruṣa said: “Those who immerse themselves in your love-filled water will develop supreme devotion to Rāma's lotus feet.

Passage 2

गच्छ त्वं रामनगरीमयोध्याख्यां शुभान्विताम्। पावयन्ती शुभान् देशान् निजवारिसमीरणैः॥२॥

Go to Rāma's auspicious city called Ayodhyā, sanctifying blessed lands with the breezes that rise from your waters.

Passage 3

गङ्गया सह भूपस्त्वं लवणोदं गमिष्यसि। ब्रह्माण्डाधारवासिन्या विरजायाः शुभं जलम्॥३॥

Together with Gaṅgā, O sovereign river, you will reach the salt ocean and the auspicious water of Virajā, who dwells at the foundation of the cosmic egg.

Passage 4

एकीकृत्य निजैस्तोयैर्गमिष्यसि महीतलम्। उपरिस्थमहाव्योमब्रह्माण्डद्वारसमागतः॥४॥

Merging that water with your own, you will come to the earthly plane after reaching the cosmic gateway in the great sky above.

Passage 5

ब्रह्मलोकं समागत्य ब्रह्माणं स्नपयिष्यसि। तपोलोके सतीर्मातॄस्तापसान् सिद्धवृद्धदेवान्॥५॥

Reaching Brahmaloka, you will bathe Brahmā. In Tapoloka you will sanctify the venerable mothers, ascetics, perfected beings, elders, and gods.

Passage 6

पावयित्वा पितॄन् सर्वान् जनलोकमुपेष्यसि। जनलोके पावयित्वा तत्रस्थान् देवतागणान्॥६॥

After purifying all the ancestors, you will enter Janaloka and purify the hosts of deities who dwell there.

Passage 7

महर्लोके ध्रुवस्थाने पूजितौत्तानपादिना। सप्तर्षिमण्डले भूयो वन्दिता तैर्मुनीश्वरैः॥७॥

In Maharloka, at Dhruva's station, Uttānapāda's son will worship you. In the sphere of the Seven Sages, those great seers will again bow before you.

Passage 8

असन्धत्या स्तुता चैव स्तुत्वा च त्वमरुन्धतीम्। परस्परं सुखं भूयस्तत्र नित्यं करिष्यथः॥८॥

Asandhatī will praise you, and you in turn will praise Arundhatī; there you will forever increase one another's joy.

Passage 9

ततः स्वर्लोकमागत्य देवैर्देवीभिरीडिता। पूजिता देवराजेन भुवर्लोकमुपेष्यसि॥९॥

Then you will reach heaven, where gods and goddesses will praise you. Worshiped by Indra, king of the gods, you will enter the atmospheric realm.

Passage 10

तत्र दिव्यैर्देवगणैः सिद्धविद्याधरोरगैः। पूजिता संस्तुता चैव भूर्लोकं प्लावयिष्यसि॥१०॥

There divine hosts, siddhas, vidyādharas, and serpents will worship and praise you; then you will flood and sanctify the earthly world.

Passage 11

दिव्ये हिमालयवने विचरन्ती समन्ततः। आश्रमान् मुनिवर्याणां विशेषात्प्लावयिष्यसि॥११॥

Moving everywhere through the divine Himalayan forest, you will especially bathe the hermitages of the eminent sages.

Passage 12

दिव्यवर्षसहस्रं तु विष्टे तपस्विना। आराधिता ततो देवि मर्त्यलोकमुपेष्यसि॥१२॥

After a thousand divine years, worshiped there by the ascetic, O goddess, you will enter the mortal world.

Passage 13

अयोध्यानगरे रम्ये तव वासो भविष्यति। नित्यं संनिहिता तत्र कामान् सम्पूरयिष्यसि॥१३॥

Your abode will be in lovely Ayodhyā. Ever present there, you will fulfill worthy desires.

Passage 14

इदं ते कार्यमुद्दिष्टं स्थानं चैव शुभान्वितम्। आविर्भावस्तव सदा शुभाय धरणीतले॥१४॥

This is the task appointed to you and the auspicious place assigned to you. Your manifestation upon the earth will always bring blessing.

Passage 15

नृणां श्रीरामभक्तानां विशुद्धमनसां सताम्। अन्येषां चापि लोकानां पावनी त्वं सदा मता॥१५॥

You will always be regarded as purifier of virtuous, pure-hearted devotees of Śrī Rāma and of all other people as well.

Passage 16

आपदो विपदश्चैव दारिद्र्यमशुभं तथा। कुष्ठाद्याश्च महारोगा दुश्चिकित्स्या भिषग्वरैः॥१६॥

Calamities and dangers, poverty and misfortune, and grave diseases beginning with leprosy that even skilled physicians find difficult to treat—

Passage 17

अभिचारा ग्रहाः कृत्याः संक्षयं यान्ति तत्क्षणात्। पश्यतां स्मरतां चैव मज्जतां तव वारिणि॥१७॥

Hostile rites, planetary afflictions, and destructive spells all perish at once for those who see you, remember you, or immerse themselves in your water.

Passage 18

इत्थं शुभाय मर्त्यानां प्रकटा त्वं महीतले। भविष्यसि वसिष्ठस्य तपसा सुखकारिणी॥१८॥

Thus you will become manifest upon the earth for the welfare of mortals, bringing joy through the austerity of Vasiṣṭha.”
