Source: Volume 3, physical PDF pages 100–102 (printed pages 85–87). Structure: 29 continuously numbered Sanskrit verses. Summary: Janaka asks Śuka to explain the origin and true nature of Sarayū, also called Vilocanajalā. Śuka begins with an ancient assembly of sages who disagreed over the supreme cause and deity. They question Sanatkumāra, who declares the two-syllable mantra Rāma to be the supreme Vedic essence, the treasure of the Upaniṣads, and the source of purification, devotion, liberation, and ritual completeness. No rite is whole without Rāma's name, while even a materially deficient rite becomes complete when joined to it. The Sages Ask for the Supreme Vedic Essence
