Passage 1
कुबेर उवाच— धनाधिपतिरस्म्यहं जननि भक्तवर्यस्य ते सखा हृदिनिरन्तरं किमपि भावयानः स्थितः। कदा खलु भवत्यहो जनकभूपतेर्मन्दिरे शुभैरवतरेत्तरां भवति यन्निधीनां फलम्॥१॥
Kubera said: “Mother, I am lord of wealth and the friend of your foremost devotee, dwelling constantly in my heart while contemplating something of your glory. Ah, when you descend amid auspiciousness in King Janaka's palace, the treasures finally attain their purpose.
Passage 2
गायकेभ्यो नर्तकेभ्यस्तथैव च स्तावकेभ्यस्तथा। स्वस्तिवाचकेभ्यो ददे निधीन्॥२॥
I give treasures to singers, dancers, panegyrists, and those who proclaim blessings.
Passage 3
अथ जन्मोत्सवदिने मातस्तव फलं गताः। आकरेषु चिरं रुद्धा निधयो मम हस्तगाः॥३॥
Mother, on the day of your birth festival the riches under my command, long confined within the mines, have attained their fruit.
Passage 4
भवत्या ये पत्याबुदयमुपयाते दशरथ- क्षितीन्द्रस्यागारे व्यपितपरिशिष्टा विनिहिताः। निधीन् संस्मुर्वे तानहमधिकमद्य त्वदुदये जगन्माङ्गल्यार्थे गुणवति वितीर्णं द्विजगणे॥४॥
When your Lord arose in the palace of King Daśaratha, treasures were placed there and distributed without remainder. Remembering them, virtuous one, at your appearance today I distribute still more among the Brahmins for the auspicious welfare of the world.
Passage 5
अद्यास्माकमहोभाग्यं यक्षाणां बहुकालतः। सुसाध्यस्थापिता विद्याः करिष्यामः फलान्विताः॥५॥
Today brings extraordinary fortune to us Yakṣas. The arts established and perfected over a long time will at last be made fruitful.
Passage 6
ता एव विद्याश्च गुणास्त एव तान्येव रत्नानि धनानि चैव। येषां खलु स्यादुपयोगयोगः प्रभौ प्रसादोन्मुखतामुपेते॥६॥
Those alone are true arts, qualities, jewels, and riches which find the opportunity to be used when the Lord turns toward bestowing grace.
Passage 7
अद्याहं रिक्तयिष्यामि निधिस्थानान्यशेषतः। तव जन्मोत्सवं प्राप्य दानेन निजबन्धुषु॥७॥
Having reached your birth festival, today I shall empty every treasury without remainder by giving to my own kinsmen.
Passage 8
पुनस्तव विवाहादिकौतुके समुपस्थिते। त्वद्भाण्डागाराधिकारिमहद्भूतं भरिष्यति॥८॥
When the celebrations of your marriage and the other festivals arrive, the great power that presides over your storehouse will fill it again.
Passage 9
न खल्वक्षयवस्तूनां विनाश उपपद्यते। भृतं भृतं रिच्यतेऽथो रिक्तं रिक्तं पुनर्भरेत्॥९॥
Inexhaustible things cannot truly be destroyed. What has been filled is emptied again and again, and what has been emptied is filled anew.
Passage 10
सकुटुम्बोऽद्य नृत्येयं गायेयं च गुणांस्तव। विहरेयं हरेयं स्वं दद्यामद्यामथादपे॥१०॥
Today, together with my family, may I dance and sing your qualities, rejoice, surrender what is mine, and give everything without reserve.
Passage 11
त्रिभुवनमङ्गलकारि त्वदीयमिदमद्भुतम्। जन्म नो चेत्कथमव्यक्तं भवति व्यक्तं परं ब्रह्म॥११॥
This wondrous birth of yours makes all three worlds auspicious. Without it, how could the unmanifest Supreme Brahman become manifest?
Passage 12
नमो निष्करणोपाधिकरणारसवारिधे। तुभ्यं त्रिभुवनोद्भासिकीर्तये ब्रह्ममूर्तये॥१२॥
Homage to you, ocean of rasa beyond cause, adjunct, and instrument; your fame illuminates the three worlds, and your form is Brahman.
Passage 13
नमश्चैतन्यसाक्षिण्यै स्वानन्दवपुषे भृशम्। स्वप्रकाशस्वरूपायै नीरूपायै सुरूपिणि॥१३॥
Deep homage to you, witness-consciousness whose body is your own bliss, self-luminous in nature, beyond form yet supremely beautiful.
Passage 14
भक्तचेतश्चमत्कारिप्रेमानन्दैकमूर्तये। भुवनोद्भासिभाग्योद्यमरितायै नमो नमः॥१४॥
Homage again and again to you, sole embodiment of the prema-bliss that astonishes devotees' hearts, immortal dawn of fortune illuminating the worlds.
Passage 15
स्वैरलीलाविनोदिन्यै वशिताधिकमूर्तये। तत्सङ्गामृतपानेनाप्यतृप्तमनसे नमः॥१५॥
Homage to you who delight in freely chosen līlā, whose form possesses supreme mastery, and whose heart remains unsated even after drinking the nectar of union with him.
Passage 16
श्रीभूलीलाद्यनन्तप्रकटगुणगणाख्यानरूपात्मिकायै। साक्षाच्छ्रीरामचन्द्रामितरतिसुखितस्वादितस्वान्तरायै। भक्तैकानुग्रहार्थप्रसुमरविमलापूर्णकारुण्यलक्ष्म्यै जानक्यै जन्मवत्यै खलु भुवि सहजायै परब्रह्मणे ते॥१६॥
Homage to you whose nature is the narration of the infinite manifest qualities of Śrī, Bhū, Līlā, and the other powers; whose innermost being directly savors the limitless delight of love with Śrī Rāmacandra; whose splendor of full and stainless compassion unfolds solely to bless devotees; to Jānakī, Sahajā, the Supreme Brahman who has truly taken birth upon earth.
Passage 17
इत्युक्त्वा पदयोः पपात भगवान् राजाधिराजः प्रभु- र्भूयो वैश्रवणः स्थितः सविनयं बद्ध्वा तदग्रेऽञ्जलिम्। पद्माद्यैर्निधिभिः कृताञ्जलिपुटैर्जन्मोत्सवे सम्भ्रमं कर्तुं भूरि समागतैः सहयुतः श्रीमैथिलेन्द्रालये॥१७॥
Having spoken thus, the blessed lord Vaiśravaṇa, king of kings, fell at her feet. He then stood respectfully before her with joined hands, accompanied by Padma and the other personified treasures, who had assembled in great numbers with cupped palms to serve eagerly at the birth festival in the palace of Mithilā's king.
Passage 18
एवं सर्वे सुरौघाः स्तुतिमतुलतरां श्रौतवाक्यैः प्रमाणैः निर्मायानन्तकोटिप्रचुरगुणगणाख्यायिकाभूरिवारम्। ब्रह्मेशानौ रमेशं सुरपतिमपि चोच्चैः पुरस्कृत्य याताः प्रेमानन्दाब्धिवीचिसमुदयनिभवोद्धतचित्तावगाहाः॥१८॥
Thus all the hosts of gods repeatedly composed incomparable hymns, grounded in the testimony of śruti and recounting her innumerable hosts of qualities. Placing Brahmā, Śiva, Viṣṇu, and the lord of the gods prominently before them, they departed, their exalted minds immersed in the rising waves of the ocean of prema-bliss.”
