Svayaṃ Lakṣmī on Knowledge, Devotion, and Sahajānandinī

Global chapter 406 of 51451 passagesSource PDF pages 5659
Chapter context and opening material

Svayaṃ Lakṣmī distinguishes her own form as knowledge-devotion from Sahajānandinī's revelation of love-devotion. She explains how knowledge draws souls into tranquil Brahman, whereas love brings the Lord and his eternal companions into manifest rasa and reciprocal līlā. The disciplines of action, worship, and knowledge purify the inner instrument, but pure worship matures into divine feeling and love. All cosmic powers rest successively in Rudra, Brahmā, Lakṣmī, Sahajānandinī, and finally Śrī Rāma. Svayaṃ Lakṣmī concludes by explaining her inseparable participation in Sahajānandinī's Pramoda and Sāketa plays before entering her form. Knowledge-Devotion and Love-Devotion
