Chapter context and opening material

While Lakṣmaṇa is away, the poem briefly discloses a mystical Rāma-līlā linked to the future rescue of the doe-eyed women held in Laṅkā. It then returns to the immediate narrative: Bhuśuṇḍi asks how Lakṣmaṇa entered Kiṣkindhā, and Brahmā describes the splendid fortified capital. Armed and visibly angry, Lakṣmaṇa reaches Sugrīva's assembly, condemns the neglect of Rāma's friendship, and demands that the monkey king appear at once. The assembled chiefs bow in fear and prepare to answer him. A Mystical Disclosure While Lakṣmaṇa Is Away
