Chapter context and opening material

At dawn Rāma completes his bath, Gāyatrī recitation, and worship of the sun, then asks Agastya's leave to reside at Pañcavaṭī and protect the sages. Agastya blesses Rāma's mission, while Lopāmudrā blesses Sītā's fidelity and foretells her return to royal splendor beside her husband. The sage-couple lovingly dismiss the travelers, and the residents of the hermitage grieve at their departure like cakora birds at moonset. Rāma's Morning Worship
