Yavana forces and allied enemies invade North Kosala, ruin the ripening harvest, and fight Raghu's army under the Rudra-empowered demon Mahākola. Vasiṣṭha brings the distressed people to Bharata. Bharata again identifies Rāma alone as king and takes refuge in the sandals; Vasiṣṭha enters meditation, beholds them as the form of the Supreme Self, and offers a philosophical hymn. The sandals answer from the sky and promise protection. The Invasion of North Kosala
