श्रीभुशुण्ड उवाच— रामो जयति लोकानां नित्यमानन्दवर्धनः। स्वच्छन्दक्रीडनानन्दी सच्चिदानन्दविग्रहः॥१॥
Śrī Bhuśuṇḍa said: “Glory to Rāma, who forever increases the worlds' joy, delights in perfectly free play, and embodies being, consciousness, and bliss.
Passage 2
तं नमामि रसानन्दरूपिणं रघुवल्लभम्। यं भजन्ति सदा भक्ता भक्त्या प्रेमस्वरूपया॥२॥
“I bow to that beloved of Raghu's line whose form is the bliss of rasa and whom devotees always worship through devotion whose very nature is love.
Passage 3
रामेण रसरूपेण प्रेमानन्दैकशालिना। नित्यलीलानिकेतेन कृतं मे भूरिमङ्गलम्॥३॥
“Rāma, the embodiment of rasa, the sole abode of love's bliss and the dwelling of eternal līlā, has bestowed immense auspiciousness upon me.
Passage 4
तेन साधनभूतेन श्रीरामेण मनोजुषा। साधयामि परं कार्यमिति मे निश्चिता मतिः॥४॥
“With that heart-delighting Śrī Rāma himself as my means, I shall accomplish the highest purpose. This is my settled conviction.
Passage 5
परब्रह्मस्वरूपाय रसानन्दैकमूर्तये। समर्पयेऽहं सकलं रामाय परमात्मने॥५॥
“I offer everything to Rāma, the supreme Self, whose nature is the supreme Brahman and whose single form is the bliss of rasa.
Passage 6
परमानन्दसदनाद्रामाद्रघुकुलोद्वहात्। राजीवलोचनाच्छ्यामान्नास्त्यन्यच्छरणं मम॥६॥
“Apart from dark-hued, lotus-eyed Rāma, abode of supreme bliss and scion of Raghu's line, I have no other refuge.
Passage 7
तस्यैवाखिलसर्वस्वभूतस्य सकलात्मनः। रामस्य मे परा भक्तिर्भूयाज्जन्मनि जन्मनि॥७॥
“Birth after birth, may I possess supreme devotion to that Rāma who is the Self of all and the complete treasure of everything.
Passage 8
श्रीरामे सहजाकान्ते चिदानन्दैकवेश्मनि। कृपापीयूषजलधौ मनो मे परिसज्जतु॥८॥
“May my mind become wholly attached to Śrī Rāma, Sahajā's beloved, the sole dwelling of conscious bliss and an ocean of the nectar of grace.

नमः सर्वविभक्तीनामाश्रयायाखिलात्मने। श्रीरामपरमेशाय रमणानन्दसद्मने॥९॥

श्रुतं विस्तरशो ब्रह्मन् रामस्य रमणं मया। व्रजवासिजनानन्दमन्दिरं लोकमङ्गलम्॥१०॥
“Brahmā, I have heard at length of Rāma's loving play, the abode of joy for the residents of Vraja and a blessing to the world.
Passage 11
रामस्य रसरूपस्य श्रुतं जन्म च कर्म च। महारासात्मकं दिव्यं रमणं निजशक्तिभिः॥११॥
“I have heard the birth and deeds of Rāma, embodiment of rasa, and his divine loving play with his own powers in the form of the great rāsa.
Passage 12
राक्षसीहननाद्याश्च बाललीलाः श्रुता विभो। याभिस्तन्मयतामेति हृदयं भक्तिभाजनम्॥१२॥
“Lord, I have heard his childhood līlās, beginning with the slaying of the rākṣasī. Through them a heart fit to hold devotion becomes absorbed in him.
Passage 13
अयोध्यायां कृता लीलाः परमानन्दवर्धकाः। सीतोद्वाहप्रभृतयो ब्रह्मन्नाकर्णिता मया॥१३॥
“Brahmā, I have heard the līlās enacted in Ayodhyā that increase supreme bliss, beginning with Rāma's marriage to Sītā.
Passage 14
षड्गुणाश्च श्रुतास्तस्य स्वयंरामस्य भूपतेः। याभिः श्रुताभिर्हृदयं तन्मयत्वाय कल्पते॥१४॥
“I have also heard the six divine excellences of that sovereign, Rāma himself. When they are heard, the heart becomes capable of complete absorption in him. The Questions About the Forest Exile

पौलस्त्यवधरूपं तु तच्चरित्रं महोदयम्। श्रोतुमिच्छामि भगवन् भवांश्चेदनुमन्यते॥१५॥
“Venerable one, if you permit, I wish now to hear the majestic account that culminates in the killing of the descendant of Pulastya.

राज्याभिषेकं संत्यज्य वनवासविधौ विभोः। अनुमेने कथं नाम कैकयेन्द्रसुता स्वयम्॥१६॥
“How did the princess of Kekaya herself consent to the Lord's exile in the forest and the abandonment of his royal consecration?
Passage 17
कथं च हरणं देव्याः पौलस्त्येन वने कृतम्। अतिगर्हितमेतद्धि भक्तस्य प्रतिभाति मे॥१७॥
“How could the descendant of Pulastya abduct the goddess in the forest? To me, a devotee, this appears utterly abhorrent.
Passage 18
स्वयं भगवतः शक्तिः सच्चिदानन्दरूपिणी। रावणातिक्रमं ब्रह्मन् कथं सेहे स्वयं च सा॥१८॥
“Brahmā, she is the Lord's own power, whose form is being, consciousness, and bliss. How could she herself endure Rāvaṇa's violation?
Passage 19
वने च निवसन् रामो भगवान् जगदीशिता। यद्यच्चकार चरितं तन्मे कथय विस्तरात्॥१९॥
“Tell me in detail every deed performed by the venerable Rāma, ruler of the world, while he lived in the forest.

कं कं भक्तजनं दीनं वनवासे रघूद्वहः। अभ्युद्धार कृपया सुघोराद्भवसागरात्॥२०॥
“Which distressed devotees did the scion of Raghu graciously raise from the terrible ocean of becoming during his exile?
Passage 21
राज्ञो दशरथस्यापि वियोगं मरणान्तिकम्। कथं वितीर्णवान् रामो भक्तस्य स्वगतात्मनः॥२१॥
“How did Rāma allot to King Daśaratha—a devotee whose very self had entered him—the separation that ended in death?
Passage 22
एतदाद्यखिलं तस्य चरित्रं रसरञ्जितम्। कथयस्व कृपां कृत्वा येन स्यात्तन्मयी मतिः॥२२॥
“Kindly relate all his rasa-colored deeds, beginning with these, so that my understanding may become entirely absorbed in him.
Passage 23
कृपासिन्धुर्भगवान् सत्यसन्धो दीनात्मबन्धुर्भुवनैकभर्ता। यद्यच्चकाराखिलवन्द्यपादस्तत्तद्विधे जनजीवातुभूतम्॥२३॥
“The venerable Lord is an ocean of grace, faithful to truth, friend of the humble soul, and sole sustainer of the worlds. Whatever he of universally revered feet did became the very life of humankind.
Passage 24
अटित्वा तैर्थिकीं यात्रां यच्चक्रे राजपुङ्गवः। तन्मे वद विशेषेण रामचारित्रगर्भकम्॥२४॥

Passage 25
जानामि यस्य मनुजस्य जनुः प्रयाति श्रीरामचन्द्रगुणकीर्तनेन यथा दिनेषु। रात्रीषु भावयत एतदपारलीलां जातः स एव गुणवान् भुवने जनन्याः॥२५॥
“I know that only the person whose days pass in praising Śrī Rāmacandra's qualities and whose nights pass contemplating his boundless līlā has truly been born as a worthy child of a mother in this world.
Passage 26
वल्मीकवत्तस्य जनस्य कर्णौ शृणोति यो नास्य यशः पवित्रम्। दृशौ मयूरस्य च चन्द्रिकाभे लीलास्थलीं तस्य न पश्यतो ये॥२६॥
“The ears of one who does not hear his purifying fame are like empty anthills; eyes that do not behold his līlā places are like the inert eye-spots upon a peacock's moonlike plumage.
Passage 27
वृथैव सा त्वग् न ययास्य भक्ता आलिङ्गिताः संसृतितापमोक्षणाः। जिह्वा तरोः पल्लववल्ललन्ती वृथा न या मुख्यगुणान् गृणीते॥२७॥
“Skin that has not embraced his devotees, who release one from saṃsāra's torment, is useless. A tongue that does not praise his foremost qualities dangles vainly like a leaf upon a tree.
Passage 28
इति विज्ञाय सततं शीलनीयो रघूद्वहः। सर्वेन्द्रियकृतार्थत्वहेतवे सज्जनैर्भवे॥२८॥
“Knowing this, good people in this world should constantly contemplate the scion of Raghu, so that every sense may attain its purpose.” Colophon इति श्रीमदादिरामायणे ब्रह्मभुशुण्डसंवादे दक्षिणखण्डे प्रश्नाधिकारो नाम द्वितीयोऽध्यायः ॥ २ ॥ Thus ends Chapter 2, “The Section of Questions,” in the Dakṣiṇa-khaṇḍa of the glorious Ādi Rāmāyaṇa, in the dialogue between Brahmā and Bhuśuṇḍa.
