Passage 1
ब्रह्मविरचितं स्तोत्रम्— दिनकरकुलकेतुः सर्वसौन्दर्यसेतुः त्रिभुवनसुखहेतुर्भूतिकृज्जम्भजेतुः। सुरनरनगरामानन्दसन्दोहधामा धृतमणिवरदामा पातु वो रामनामा॥१॥
May he whose name is Rāma protect you: banner of the solar dynasty, bridge to every beauty, source of happiness for the three worlds, maker of prosperity and conqueror of arrogance; the abode of gathered joy for divine and human communities, adorned with a superb jeweled garland.
Passage 2
दुरितहरणदक्षः साधुवर्गैकपक्षस्त्रिदशरिपुविपक्षः स्वर्गसम्पत्तिरक्षः। प्रबलनिखिलरक्षःसंहतौ बद्धकक्षः सकलगुणवलक्षः पातु रामो विचक्षः॥२॥
May discerning Rāma protect you: skilled in removing wrongdoing, wholly on the side of the virtuous, opposed to the gods' enemies, guardian of heaven's wealth, girded for battle against the entire mighty host of rākṣasas, and distinguished by every virtue.
Passage 3
नतिनुतिलवमन्ता कालभीत्येकहन्ता परमगहनगन्ता सत्यवाक्यानुमन्ता। कुशलनिधिरनन्तानन्दलीलैकरन्ता जयति जय दुरन्तापत्तिहृद्रामचन्द्रः॥३॥
All victory to Rāmacandra, who accepts even the smallest bow or word of praise, uniquely destroys the fear of death, enters the deepest mystery, approves truthful speech, is a treasury of well-being, delights solely in plays of endless bliss, and removes overwhelming calamity.
Passage 4
परममधुरशीलः प्रावृषेण्याभ्रनीलः सकलसुखदलीलः कृत्तहृच्छोककीलः। त्रिभुवनशुभवेशः कोटिकल्याणदेशः कुटिलमसृणकेशः पातु भास्वत्कुलेशः॥४॥
May the lord of the solar house protect us: supremely gentle in character, blue as a rain-season cloud, whose play bestows every happiness and cuts away the spike of grief from the heart; the auspicious beauty of the three worlds, the home of ten million blessings, with soft, curling hair.
Passage 5
सलिलनिधिगभीरः सर्वलोकैकवीरः स्थिरतरमतिधीरः सूर्यवंशैकहीरः। सुरभियश उशीरः स्वर्णवर्णाच्छचीरः श्रितविपिनकुटीरः पातु नो रामवीरः॥५॥
May heroic Rāma protect us: profound as the ocean, the peerless champion of every world, steadfast and resolute in intellect, the diamond of the solar line; whose fragrant fame is cooling as vetiver, whose pure garments shine like gold, and who made a forest hut his refuge.
Passage 6
त्रिभुवनजनपालः सर्वदुष्टैककालः करकृतकरवालः कीर्तिलक्ष्मीविशालः। समरभुवि करालः सत्तपस्वी जटालः कलयतु रघुबालः सम्पदं नो रसालः॥६॥
May the delightful prince of Raghu bring us prosperity: guardian of the people of all three worlds, death to every evildoer, sword held ready in his hand, vast in the splendor of fame, terrible upon the battlefield, and the true matted-haired ascetic.
Passage 7
मुनिजनकृतभक्तिर्बद्धसीतानुरक्तिः कलितललितशक्तिर्जातसम्पद्विरक्तिः। कृतसकलविभुक्तिः सच्चिदानन्दभुक्तिर्दितिजहरणयुक्तिः पातु रामः सदुक्तिः॥७॥
May Rāma, whose every word is true, protect us: adored by the sages, bound in love to Sītā, endowed with graceful power, detached from all acquired wealth, the giver of complete liberation, the enjoyer of being-consciousness-bliss, and perfectly skilled in destroying the demons.
Passage 8
गुणनिधिरभिरामः सर्वरक्षोविरामः समरभुवि सभामः सौभगश्रीललामः। निरवधिशुभधाम श्रीहृशो हत्तकामः स्फुटमधुरिमवामः पातु वः सोऽपि रामः॥८॥
May that enchanting Rāma protect you: treasury of virtues, ender of every rākṣasa, radiant in the field of battle, crest-jewel of beauty and fortune, boundless abode of auspiciousness, captivating the heart of Śrī, and the very embodiment of manifest sweetness. Colophon इति श्रीमदादिरामायणे ब्रह्मभुशुण्डसंवादे दक्षिणखण्डे ब्रह्मविरचितं स्तोत्रं नाम प्रथमोऽध्यायः ॥ १ ॥ Thus ends Chapter 1, “Brahmā's Hymn,” in the Dakṣiṇa-khaṇḍa of the glorious Ādi Rāmāyaṇa, in the dialogue between Brahmā and Bhuśuṇḍa.
