चिन्तामणिमयीं भूमिं दिव्यरत्ननिकेतनाम्। ज्वलत्प्राकारमध्यस्थां सूर्यकोटिप्रभामयीम्॥६०॥
“I saw a land made of wish-fulfilling gems, an abode of celestial jewels, enclosed by blazing ramparts and filled with the radiance of ten million suns.

तत्र कल्पद्रुमस्तोमनानानिष्कुटसंवृतम्। अद्राक्षं दिव्यभवनं मणिहेमविनिर्मितम्॥६१॥
“There I beheld a divine palace fashioned from jewels and gold, surrounded by groves of wish-fulfilling trees and many garden bowers.

सहस्रस्तम्भसंशालि नानाशिखरभूषितम्। नानासखिसखीवृन्दैरन्वितं दिव्यपार्षदैः॥६२॥
“It shone with a thousand pillars and was adorned with many spires. Companies of male and female companions and celestial attendants filled it.

तत्र सिंहासनं दिव्यं नानारत्नमयं भुवम्। कोटिचन्द्रार्कसङ्काशं विस्फुरत्कोटिदीधिति॥६३॥
“There stood a divine throne composed of many jewels, resembling ten million suns and moons and flashing forth ten million rays.

तत्र परात्परं साक्षाद्रामचन्द्रं जगत्प्रभुम्। सीतालक्ष्मीसहचरं चिदानन्दघनाकृतिम्॥६४॥
“Upon it I directly beheld Rāmacandra, Lord of the universe and higher than the highest, accompanied by Sītā-Lakṣmī, his form a solid mass of consciousness and bliss.

अमुमेव यथाकारमद्राक्षं द्विभुजान्वितम्। त्वां च तत्र महाराज स्थितमव्ययशासनम्॥६५॥
“I saw this very prince in precisely his present two-armed form, and I saw you there as well, great king, established in imperishable sovereignty.

त्वत्कुमारममुं देवं प्रसन्नं शुभगाकृतिम्। रत्नकल्पमनोहारिप्रावृषेण्यघनोपमम्॥६६॥
“Your son appeared as the gracious God of lovely form, enchanting like a precious jewel and like a rain-bearing cloud.

रत्नकुण्डलसंसेव्यसुन्दरश्रवणद्वयम्। अर्धचन्द्रस्फुरद्भालकस्तूरीतिलकाञ्चितम्॥६७॥
“His two beautiful ears were graced by jeweled earrings, and a crescent-like musk tilaka gleamed upon his forehead.

पीताम्बरधरं देवं मन्दस्मितशुभाननम्। सुनसं विस्फुरच्चारुकपोलफलकान्वितम्॥६८॥
“The God wore yellow garments. His auspicious face held a gentle smile, a finely shaped nose, and lustrous, lovely cheeks.

विस्फुरद्रत्नकटकं श्रीवत्सललितोरसम्। सुवर्णसूत्ररचितकटिबन्धविराजितम्॥६९॥
“Jeweled bracelets flashed upon him, the Śrīvatsa beautified his chest, and a girdle woven with golden thread adorned his waist.

लसद्दिव्यकिरीटाढ्यं रत्नमालाविभूषितम्। वनमालाधरं धीरं केयूरमणिदीपितम्॥७०॥
“He was splendid with a shining celestial crown and a necklace of jewels; the serene Lord wore a forest garland and jeweled armlets.

विस्फुरद्रत्नकटकं श्रीवत्सललितोरसम्। सुवर्णसूत्ररचितकटिबन्धविराजितम्॥७१॥
“His jeweled bracelets flashed, the Śrīvatsa graced his chest, and the belt at his waist shone with its golden weaving.
Passage 72
लम्बलीनमहारत्नविस्फुरन्तासिमण्डलम्। निषेव्यमानं मूर्ताभिः समस्तायुधशक्तिभिः॥७२॥
“A great jewel glittered upon the sword hanging at his side, while the embodied powers of all divine weapons attended him.
Passage 73
स्तूयमानं समन्ताच्च वेदैर्मूर्तिधरैः पृथक्। सनकाद्यैर्नारदाद्यैर्मुनिभिः पर्युपासितम्॥७३॥
“The Vedas, each assuming bodily form, praised him on every side, and sages led by Sanaka and Nārada worshiped him.
Passage 74
दिशां पतिभिरानम्रकन्धरैर्भक्तिसंयुतैः। ब्रह्माद्यैर्लोकपालैश्च विविधस्तुतिभिः स्तुतम्॥७४॥
“The guardians of the directions, their shoulders bowed in devotion, and the protectors of the worlds beginning with Brahmā extolled him with many hymns.
Passage 75
कालेनापि च मूर्तेन पर्युपासितमादरात्। भक्तैरनेकैः स्वाकारैः पर्युपासितविग्रहम्॥७५॥
“Even Time in embodied form served him reverently, while innumerable devotees, each in a form proper to them, worshiped his visible form.
Passage 76
इत्यहं योगनिद्रायामपश्यं राममद्भुतम्। दृष्ट्वा च विपुलैः स्तोत्रैः स्तुवंस्तोषं च यथामति॥७६॥
“Thus in yogic sleep I beheld wondrous Rāma and, having seen him, praised him with extensive hymns as best I could, seeking to give him pleasure.
Passage 77
ततो झटिति तद्दिव्यदर्शनाह्लादसंयुतः। व्युत्थाय किमिदं दृष्टमिति तर्काकुलोऽभवम्॥७७॥
“Then I suddenly awakened, still filled with the delight of that divine vision, and became absorbed in wondering, ‘What is it that I have seen?’
Passage 78
ततो निश्चित्य मनसा परब्रह्म सनातनम्। रामचन्द्रं चिदानन्दविग्रहं त्रिजगत्प्रभुम्॥७८॥
“I then became inwardly certain that Rāmacandra is the eternal Supreme Brahman, whose form is consciousness and bliss and who rules the three worlds.
Passage 79
विश्वात्मानं च विश्वस्य वन्द्यं स्वप्रियसद्वयम्। स्वरूपानन्दनिरतं योगिध्येयं सतां गतिम्॥७९॥
“He is the Self of the universe, worshiped by the universe, ever united with his beloved Sītā, absorbed in the bliss of his own nature, contemplated by yogins, and the destination of the holy.
Passage 80
प्रपन्नोऽहं प्रभुं साक्षादन्तर्योगविवर्जितः। बहिः सेवाधिकारेण पर्युपास्य निरन्तरम्॥८०॥
“I surrendered directly to the Lord, abandoned inward yoga, and became qualified instead to worship him unceasingly through outward service.
Passage 81
तदावधि न मे योगे निष्ठाभून्नृपसत्तम। अमुमेव बहिः सेवे श्रीरामं चिद्घनाकृतिम्॥८१॥
“From that day, best of kings, I have had no commitment to abstract yoga. I serve this very Śrī Rāma outwardly, for his form is concentrated consciousness.
Passage 82
आनन्दमयमद्वैतं लीलारसिकमीश्वरम्। भक्त्या सुलभपादाब्जं दुर्लभं योगिनामपि॥८२॥
“He is the blissful, nondual Lord, the connoisseur of divine play. His lotus feet are easily reached through devotion, though difficult even for yogins to attain.

स ते नृपतिशार्दूल पुत्रतां प्राप्तवान् परः। कथं भुवि न धन्योऽसि श्लाघ्यस्त्वं योगिनामपि॥८३॥
“That Supreme One has become your son, tiger among kings. How could you not be blessed upon the earth and worthy of praise even by yogins?
Passage 84
हेलालालित एष ते निधिसमो रामोऽङ्कमाभूषयन् नानन्दामृतकन्दलः प्रतिपदं पुष्णाति लीलारसम्। यत्पादाम्बुजविस्फुरन्नखमणिज्योत्स्नाप्रकाशोदयं साक्षाद्ब्रह्म परं यदन्तिमगिरा नेतीति वेदा जगुः॥८४॥
“This treasure-like Rāma, whom you fondle in play and who adorns your lap, is a fresh shoot of the nectar of bliss, nourishing līlā-rasa at every moment. He is directly the Supreme Brahman: unable to reach the dawning moonlight of the jewel-like nails upon his lotus feet, the Vedas finally declare, ‘Not this, not this.’
Passage 85
अहो तव महद्भाग्यमप्राप्यं सर्वयोगिनाम्। यस्याङ्कभूषणो रामः परापरपरो हरिः॥८५॥
“Ah, how immense is your fortune, unattainable by all yogins! Rāma, Hari who transcends both the higher and the lower, is the ornament of your lap.
Passage 86
अहो हि धन्या कौशल्या श्रीरामजननी स्वयम्। ब्रह्मोपनिषदो यस्याः कलां नार्हन्ति षोडशीम्॥८६॥
“And blessed indeed is Kauśalyā, the very mother of Śrī Rāma; even the Upaniṣads concerning Brahman do not equal a sixteenth part of her glory.
Passage 87
युवामेव परं धन्यौ भवेऽस्मिन् भूतिमत्तरौ। संश्लाघनीयमाहात्म्यौ त्रिवेदीशिरसामपि॥८७॥
“You two alone are supremely blessed and prosperous in this world; your greatness deserves praise even from the crest of the three Vedas.
Passage 88
आस्तां रामस्य महिमा वेदास्तं वर्णयेयुः कथम्। युवयोरेव माहात्म्यं वक्तुं शक्तिर्न दृश्यते॥८८॥
“Let Rāma's greatness remain beyond discussion—how could the Vedas describe it? No power capable of expressing even the greatness of you two can be found.
Passage 89
सर्वदेवमयी देवी कौशल्या विश्वमङ्गला। भवान् भूपशिखारत्न शुद्धसत्त्वैकविग्रहः॥८९॥
“Goddess Kauśalyā embodies every deity and brings blessing to the universe; and you, crest-jewel among kings, are the very embodiment of pure sattva.
Passage 90
प्रपञ्चातीतमाहात्म्यौ त्रिजगन्मङ्गलौ युवाम्। महोपनिषदां तत्त्वं ययोः पुत्रत्वमागतम्॥९०॥
“Your greatness transcends the manifested world, and you bless all three worlds, for the Reality taught by the great Upaniṣads has become your son.” Daśaratha reveals Sītā's divinity
Passage 91
इत्युक्तवन्तं निमिचन्द्रमादराच्छ्रीरामभक्तिप्रवणान्तराशयम्। उवाच वीरो रघुवंशधूर्धरः स्वयं स सीतासुरहस्यसारवित्॥९१॥
The heroic bearer of Raghu's lineage, who personally knew the essence of Sītā's supreme mystery, respectfully addressed the moon of Nimi's line, whose heart inclined wholly toward devotion to Śrī Rāma.
Passage 92
राजोवाच— तवोचितैवेयमुदारवस्तुगा मतिर्वरेण्या निमिवंशपुङ्गव। यस्यात्मजा सा स्वयमद्भुता रमा प्रसन्नपङ्केरुहकोषवासिनी॥९२॥
The king said: “Foremost of Nimi's line, this noble understanding of exalted truth is entirely fitting for you, whose daughter is wondrous Ramā herself, dwelling within the heart of the radiant lotus.
Passage 93
यदंशांशसमुद्भूतिर्दृश्यते भुवनत्रये। चन्द्रसूर्यतडिद्वह्निज्योतिश्चक्रप्रभामयी॥९३॥
“From only a portion of a portion of her arise all the radiant orbs seen in the three worlds—the moon, sun, lightning, fire, and every light.
Passage 94
लक्ष्मीर्गौरी गिरा गङ्गा गौतमी गणदेवता। गायत्री चैव सावित्री स्वाहा भूर्वंशिनी शची॥९४॥
“She is Lakṣmī, Gaurī, Speech, Gaṅgā, Gautamī, the deities in their hosts, Gāyatrī, Sāvitrī, Svāhā, Earth, and Śacī of noble lineage.
Passage 95
स्त्रीषु निवेशि यद्वस्तु तत्सर्वं स्वयमेव सा। परापरपराकारा तव पुत्री न संशयः॥९५॥
“Whatever excellence abides in women is altogether she herself. Your daughter is the very form beyond both the higher and the lower—of this there is no doubt.
Passage 96
तस्याः स्वरूपं विज्ञातुं न वेदाः प्रभवन्ति हि। इत्यचिन्त्यस्वरूपत्वं तस्या एव मतं स्फुटम्॥९६॥
“The Vedas themselves are unable to comprehend her essential nature. It is therefore clear that inconceivability belongs to her alone.
Passage 97
परार्धाधिकनामा सा परार्धाधिकरूपिणी। तथाप्यनामरूपा सा चित्रं श्रुतिभिरीयते॥९७॥
“Her names exceed the highest imaginable number, and so do her forms; yet the scriptures wondrously proclaim her to be beyond both name and form.
Passage 98
सर्वावताररूपेण सैव कर्त्रीति भासते। अकर्त्री च स्वरूपेण चित्रं कथमिवेयताम्॥९८॥
“Appearing through the forms of every avatāra, she alone seems to perform all action; in her own nature she is no agent at all. How can this wonder be described?

पाणिग्रहे श्रीरामस्य तस्यास्तत्त्वमजानता। मया सा त्वत्सुतेत्यद्धा दृष्टा प्राकृतभावतः॥९९॥
“At her wedding to Śrī Rāma, not knowing her true reality, I viewed her in an ordinary way merely as your daughter.

तदा ममान्तरं मोहं विधूय कृपया स्वयम्। अनुभावितवत्यद्धा स्वरूपं रामवल्लभा॥१००॥
“Then Rāma's beloved, by her own grace, dispelled the delusion within me and directly revealed her true form. The eternal realm of Sahajānandinī

दृष्टा मयामृतपयाः सरयूः सुकान्तिरद्यत्सहस्रशतयोजनविस्तृतात्मा। सम्पूर्णशारदतुषारमरीचिरोचिः संशुद्धवर्धिष्णुतरङ्गसान्द्रा॥१०१॥
“I saw the lovely Sarayū flowing with nectar, her expanse extending hundreds of thousands of yojanas. She shone like the full autumn moon and surged with dense, ever-growing, utterly pure waves.

कल्लोलजालजलकेलिकलाविधूतवेलावनावलिमहीरुहपुष्पकीर्णा। आनन्दमग्नमुदितान्तरमीननक्रग्राहौघकच्छपकुलाकुलतोयचक्रा॥१०२॥
“The sportive art of her network of waves shook flowers from the trees along the wooded shore. Her circling waters teemed with joyful fish, crocodiles, aquatic creatures, and families of turtles immersed in bliss.
Passage 103
तस्यान्तरे विपुलकल्पलतापरीतकल्पद्रुमैः परिवृतं मणिहेमहर्म्यम्। उत्तुङ्गतोरणसहस्रनिबद्धपुष्पस्रग्गन्धमाद्यदलिपुञ्जसुगुञ्जिताढ्यम्॥१०३॥
“Within it stood a palace of jewels and gold, enclosed by abundant wish-fulfilling vines and trees. Swarms of bees, intoxicated by the fragrance of flower garlands tied to a thousand lofty gateways, hummed richly there.

वैदूर्यहीरमणिनिर्मितदीर्घभित्तिविद्योतिदीधितिवितानविराजमानम्। विश्वक्ततं स्फटिकरत्नशिलानिबद्धनिःश्रेणिकाशतसहस्रविरोचमानम्॥१०४॥
“Long walls fashioned from cat's-eye and diamond jewels spread canopies of light. Everywhere it shone with hundreds of thousands of stairways built from slabs of crystal and gems.

रत्नोपलप्रकरसद्रचनाविचित्रबद्धाङ्गणेन्द्रमणिपद्धतिशोभमानम्। प्रोद्भासिनव्यमणिकुट्टिमरश्मिजालविध्वस्तनैशतिमिरोज्ज्वलरत्नदीपम्॥१०५॥
“Its courtyards displayed marvelous arrangements of precious stones and rows of sapphires. Networks of light from new jeweled floors dispelled the darkness of night, while jewel-lamps blazed.

प्रोद्यन्महामणिरुचा मुकुरायमाणस्तम्भावलीशतसहस्रसुमण्डपाढ्यम्। वातायनायनविनिःसरदच्छरत्नज्योत्स्नाविमिश्रकटकद्युतिसुप्रकाशम्॥१०६॥
“Its splendid halls held hundreds of thousands of columns made mirror-like by the radiance of great gems. Pure jewel-moonlight streaming through the windows mingled with the brilliance of their frames.

अट्टालजालविपुलाङ्गणभूप्रभाक्तनिर्यूहलग्नमणिरत्नमरीचिकान्तम्। गोपानसीशतसहस्रनिषण्णमत्तपुंस्कोकिलध्वनिमहामुखरीकृताशम्॥१०७॥
“The rays of jewels fixed to projecting galleries gleamed across vast courtyards and the ground below. The calls of intoxicated male cuckoos perched upon hundreds of thousands of roof beams filled every direction.
Passage 108
सूर्येन्दुकान्तविपुलोपलहेमवापिपीयूषवारिसुविलासिमरालयूथम्। लीलासरःसलिलफुल्लसुवर्णपद्मगुञ्जत्प्रमत्तमधुलिट्पटलेन पूर्णम्॥१०८॥
“Flocks of swans sported in the nectar-water of great golden pools set with sunstone and moonstone. Golden lotuses bloomed upon pleasure lakes filled with humming swarms of drunken bees.
Passage 109
सम्फुल्लनिष्कुटमहीरुहकल्पवल्लीहल्लीसकानुरतिविस्तृतमल्लिवल्ली। नित्योत्सवल्ललितपुष्पसुवर्णयूथीसञ्ज्ञानमण्डपशतावृतकाननान्तम्॥१०९॥
“The woodland interior was enclosed by hundreds of bowers named for lovely ever-festive flowers and golden jasmine. Blooming garden trees and wish-fulfilling vines embraced in circular dance, while jasmine creepers spread everywhere.
Passage 110
आरामधामगतदिव्यमनेकजातिपक्षिप्रकूजितमनोभवमूलमन्त्रम्। दिव्याङ्गनाजनगलोद्गतमङ्गलाढ्यसङ्गीतगीतनिनदैः परिपूरिताशम्॥११०॥
“The calls of many kinds of celestial birds throughout that pleasure garden formed Love's root mantra. Every direction was filled with auspicious music and songs issuing from the throats of divine women.

कौतूहलात्तकुसुमायुधतन्त्रचारुसञ्चारणप्रणयिनीकृतसख्यदूत्यम्। स्वस्वामिनीप्रणयपोषणबद्धचित्तदूतीसखीविविधचेटकचेटिकाख्यम्॥१११॥
“Curious lovers practiced the graceful arts of the flower-armed god, while friends served as messengers. Female messengers, companions, and attendants of many kinds devoted their hearts to nurturing their own mistress's love.

तालस्वरप्रचुरमूर्छनगीतिदक्षस्वःकामिनीनिवहकूजितकण्ठनादम्। आलापलापकुलसङ्कलनप्रकीर्णगायन्महागुणवतीगणगानरम्यम्॥११२॥
“The throats of celestial women skilled in rhythm, pitch, modulation, and song resounded sweetly. The realm delighted in the singing of greatly gifted ensembles, their voices unfolding in varied phrases and exchanges.
Passage 113
वीणावतीनिवहवाद्यकलानुपृक्तमार्दङ्गिकोरकरकौतुहलवाद्यनादम्। नानापणप्रवणपाणविकोकलापस्पर्धावहप्रवरमौजिकोकलाढ्यम्॥११३॥
“Companies of vīṇā players joined their instrumental art with the eager rhythms of mṛdaṅga and oraka players. Expert musicians on paṇava and many other drums answered one another in spirited rivalry.

नित्योत्सवप्रमुदिताजयसस्पृहालीसञ्चारितप्रचुरकामकलाविनोदम्। नित्यर्तुराजविविधोत्सवभाजनं तच्चिच्चक्रवर्तिमहिषीपदमाविभाति॥११४॥
“There, joyful companions in perpetual festival circulated countless amorous arts and delights. Ever the seat of springtime's varied celebrations, it shone as the realm of the empress of the sovereignty of consciousness.

तन्मन्दिरे मणिसुवर्णमये समन्तात्सन्तानकद्रुमतले मधुवातपूते। सूर्येन्दुकोटिकिरणावलिरोचमानं सिंहासनं किमपि तद्विपुलं विभाति॥११५॥
“Within that palace of jewels and gold, beneath a santānaka tree and purified by honeyed breezes, there shone an immense, indescribable throne radiant with the rays of ten million suns and moons.

तन्मध्यगं विपुलसौरभपूरपूर्णं विश्वक्प्रसारिसुयशोमकरन्दवृन्दम्। आनन्दतुन्दिलमिलिन्दकदम्बकाढ्यं सम्यग्विभाति सुविकासिविलासपद्मम्॥११६॥
“At its center a fully blossomed lotus of divine play shone perfectly, filled with abundant fragrance. Its nectar-like fame spread everywhere, and clusters of bees, swollen with bliss, crowded upon it. The revealed form of Sītā

तत्पद्मासनमध्यस्था वरदाभयपाणिनी। हेलालीलादिभिर्हावैर्मूर्तिमद्भिरुपासिता॥११७॥
“At the center of that lotus throne sat the Goddess, her hands granting boons and fearlessness, attended by embodied expressions such as grace, play, and coquetry.

कोटिशारदपूर्णेन्दुवदनद्युतिमण्डिता। ज्योत्स्नापूरकिरच्चारुरदनांशुयुतस्मिता॥११८॥
“Her face was encircled by the splendor of ten million full autumn moons, and her smile, bright with the rays of lovely teeth, poured forth floods of moonlight.

नखचन्द्रचयज्योत्स्नाचकोरीकृतचेतसाम्। स्वर्धूनां समूहेन सन्ततं समुपासिता॥११९॥
“Hosts of celestial maidens, their minds turned into cakora birds drinking the moonlight from the cluster of her nail-moons, worshiped her without end.

स्वभावारुणरोचिष्णुलसच्चरणपल्लवा। मञ्जीरकिङ्किणीजालपादगुल्फविराजिता॥१२०॥
“Her tender feet shone with their naturally rosy glow; nets of tinkling anklets beautified her feet and ankles.

अणिमादिमहासिद्धिसेविताङ्घ्रिरजोभरा। प्रसादसुमुखी नित्यं महासाम्राज्यरञ्जिता॥१२१॥
“The great powers beginning with minuteness served the abundant dust of her feet. Her gracious face was ever radiant with supreme sovereignty.

सुवर्णकदलीकाण्डमञ्जुलोरुविराजिता। उन्मीलन्मेखलादाममणिमञ्जुमरीचिभा॥१२२॥
“Her lovely thighs resembled golden plantain stems, and charming rays shone from the jewels in her unfolding girdle.

सुनिम्ननाभीकुहरच्छातनीलमणिप्रभा। त्रिधाबद्धवलिश्राजत्तनिमाकलितोदरी॥१२३॥
“The dark jewel-like radiance of her deep navel-cavity was concealed within; three graceful folds enhanced the slender beauty of her waist.

नवीननीलमणीन्द्राभा विस्फुरद्रोमराजिमा। सातकुम्भलसत्कुम्भकरिभिकुम्भसमस्तनी॥१२४॥
“The fine line of hair upon her abdomen gleamed like a peerless new sapphire; her breasts resembled shining golden vessels or the temples of a royal elephant.

“A jeweled neck-ornament graced her conch-like throat, and a necklace of gems strung upon golden thread adorned her.

“A bodice bright as lightning closely covered her breasts, and her two lovely arms shone like golden vines.

“Her fingers glowed like branches of jewel and coral; the shining nails of her lotus hands surpassed the entire host of stars.

स्फुरत्करतलन्यस्तरङ्गबिन्द्विन्द्रगोपभा। गण्डमण्डलसङ्क्रान्तमणिताटङ्कदीधितिः॥१२८॥
