इदं स्थानं महाराज तीर्थभूतं भवेन्नृणाम्। यत्र रामः स्वयं चक्रे डाकिन्या हननक्रियाम्॥१॥
“Great king, this place became a sacred ford for humankind, for here Rāma himself performed the deed that destroyed the Ḍākinī.
Passage 2
यर्हि वाव मुनिश्रेष्ठो नारदो रक्षसां पतौ। देवगुह्यतमं कार्यं कथयामास तत्क्षणे॥२॥
“At that time the eminent sage Nārada disclosed to the lord of the Rākṣasas a plan of the gods that was most deeply secret.
Passage 3
रावणः कृतक्रोधः प्रेषयामास राक्षसीम्। डाकिनीं लोकबालघ्नीं विचरन्तीं स्थले स्थले॥३॥
“Rāvaṇa became enraged and dispatched a Rākṣasī, a Ḍākinī who killed the children of the world as she wandered from place to place.
Passage 4
प्रतिग्रामं प्रतिपुरं प्रत्यावासं चचार सा। घ्नन्ती विविधरूपेण बालकान् सदतोऽदतः॥४॥
“She roamed through every village, town, and dwelling, taking various forms and killing children here and there.
Passage 5
सा ययौ कालनिर्दिष्टा व्रजे यत्र गृहं मम। घोरा कपटवेशेन सुन्दरी भूप कामगा॥५॥
“Sent there at the appointed time, she came into Vraja to my house. Though terrible, king, the shape-shifter wore the deceptive appearance of a beautiful woman.
Passage 6
प्रसुप्तं पायितं मात्रा निगूढमिव पावकम्। दृष्टिर्जनानामाच्छाद्य तस्करी स्वकरे दधात्॥६॥
“His mother had fed him and put him to sleep, like a fire hidden beneath ash. Veiling the sight of the people, the thief took him into her hands.
Passage 7
न विदुः कथमायाता कुतो वा पापमानसा। कासौ क्रूरा केन दृष्टा जग्राह प्राणजीवितम्॥७॥
“No one knew how that sinful-minded woman had come or from where. ‘Who is this cruel woman? Who saw her?’ She had seized the very life of their lives.
Passage 8
गृहकृत्ये स्थितं मात्रा दासीभिश्च तदाज्ञया। बाले संक्रीडने लग्नं मया गोचारणे गतम्॥८॥
“His mother was occupied with household work, the maidservants carrying out her commands. The children were absorbed in play, and I had gone to tend the cows.
Passage 9
इहत्यं वृत्तमाख्यातं बालैः कुतुकविह्वलैः। मता सा सकलैर्दृष्टा बहुयोजनविग्रहा॥९॥
“The children, overcome with excitement, later related what had happened here. Everyone believed that they had seen her body extending for many yojanas.
Passage 10
अहो गोपाः शृणुतेयं सुघोरा पूर्वं दृष्टा सुन्दरी सुष्ठुवेषा। रामं समादाय करेण सुप्तं प्रपाययामास पयः स्तनोत्थम्॥१०॥
“‘Cowherds, listen! This exceedingly terrible woman at first appeared lovely and beautifully dressed. Taking the sleeping Rāma in her hands, she made him drink the milk flowing from her breast.
Passage 11
रामेण रुद्धाङ्गुलिका कराभ्यां निष्पीडिता वक्षसि गाढमेषा। मा मुञ्च मुञ्चेति चिरं विलप्य मुमोच निःश्वासमुदग्रवेगम्॥११॥
“‘Rāma gripped her tightly with both hands and pressed hard against her chest. For a long time she cried, “Release me! Release me!” and then expelled her breath with tremendous force.
Passage 12
विवृत्य विस्तीर्णतरानुदग्रान् केशांश्च दन्तान् वदनं शिरश्च। दृशौ च हस्तौ चरणौ च पश्चाच्छब्देन भूमौ महता पपात॥१२॥
“‘Her enormous hair, teeth, mouth, head, eyes, hands, and feet expanded to their full and dreadful extent; then she fell upon the ground with a great crash.
Passage 13
ततो व्रजस्त्रीनिवहः समन्तात् कृतार्तनादः सहसा जगाम। ददर्श चैतां सुभयानकास्यां विस्तीर्णकेशीं पृथुलम्बोदरीं च॥१३॥
“‘The women of Vraja immediately came from every side, crying out in distress. They saw her dreadful face, her outspread hair, and her huge, hanging belly.’
Passage 14
इत्युदीरितमाकर्ण्य बालानां मूढचेतसाम्। नैव श्रद्दधिरे गोपा अजानन्तोऽस्य वैभवम्॥१४॥
“Hearing this account from the bewildered children, the cowherds did not believe it, for they did not yet know Rāma's glory.
Passage 15
कुटुम्बिनी च मे तस्य वात्सल्यप्रेमपूरिता। सहसोत्सङ्ग आरोप्य परिरेभे भयातुरा॥१५॥
“My wife, filled with parental love for him and shaken by fear, immediately lifted him into her lap and embraced him.
Passage 16
अहं च विपिनादेत्य श्रुत्वा कोलाहलं व्रजे। अपश्यं डाकिनीकायं बहुयोजनविस्तृतम्॥१६॥
“I returned from the forest after hearing the uproar in Vraja and saw the Ḍākinī's body extending for many yojanas.

निशम्य सकलं वृत्तं गोपबालमुखोद्गतम्। बभूव परमाश्चर्यं ममापि हृदये नृप॥१७॥
“When I heard the whole account from the mouths of the cowherd boys, supreme amazement arose even within my heart, O king.
Passage 18
ततः कश्चित् प्रौढकल्पो गोपबालोऽब्रवीद्रहः। समागत्य स्फुटं तत्र यद्वृत्तं डाकिनीगतम्॥१८॥
“Then one cowherd boy, nearly grown, came forward privately and clearly told what had happened there concerning the Ḍākinī.
Passage 19
श्रूयतां सुखित स्वामिन् सत्यमेतन्मयोदितम्। डाकिन्या वदनात्तेजो रामदेहे व्यलीयत॥१९॥
“‘Master Sukhita, hear this truthful account from me: a radiance issued from the Ḍākinī's mouth and dissolved into Rāma's body.’
Passage 20
तच्छ्रुत्वा महदाश्चर्यं बभूव मम मानसे। अहो रामस्य माहात्म्यं बाल्य एवायमीदृशः॥२०॥
“Hearing that, great wonder filled my mind. ‘Ah, such is Rāma's greatness even in his childhood!’
Passage 21
ततोऽहमागत्य निकेतमात्मनो माङ्गल्यकायाः करतः सुजीवनम्। बालं समादाय समालिलिङ्ग मुदा बभूव वात्सल्यरसोर्मिघूर्णितः॥२१॥
“I then returned home, took from Māṅgalyakā's hands the child who was our very life, and joyfully embraced him, overwhelmed by waves of parental rasa.
Passage 22
गोप्यः सर्वाः प्रवीणास्ता मातरो व्रजवन्दिताः। आगत्य विदधू रक्षां बालस्याङ्गेषु सर्वतः॥२२॥
“All the wise cowherd women, mothers honored throughout Vraja, came and performed protective rites over every part of the child's body.
Passage 23
अहं चाहूय विप्रेन्द्रान् मन्त्रज्ञान् सर्वरक्षकान्। रक्षोघ्नमन्त्रसंदोहै रक्षयामास बालकम्॥२३॥
“I summoned eminent brahmins who knew the protective mantras and had them guard the child with collections of formulas that destroy Rākṣasas.
Passage 24
स्वस्ति पुण्याहमावाच्य द्विजमुख्यान् हुतानलः। मन्त्रपूतैर्जलैर्बालं स्नापयामास सादरः॥२४॥
“The foremost twice-born recited blessings and the declaration of an auspicious day and offered into the sacred fire; then they respectfully bathed the child with water purified by mantras.
Passage 25
दत्त्वा च दक्षिणास्तोमं चतुर्वेदाशिषां गणैः। वर्धयित्वा शुभैर्बालं नत्वाभ्यर्च्य व्यसर्जयम्॥२५॥
“I gave them abundant gifts. After the hosts of four-Veda blessings had increased the child's auspiciousness, I bowed to and honored the brahmins and sent them forth.
Passage 26
इत्यसौ डाकिनी घोरा महापातककारिणी। मृता स्वेनैव पापेन रामस्य च सदा शुभम्॥२६॥
“Thus that terrible Ḍākinī, perpetrator of great sins, died through her own evil, while only good belongs eternally to Rāma.
Passage 27
स्वकरस्पर्शमात्रेण डाकिनी ताममारयत्। अतारयच्च पापेभ्यो मुक्तिं च समदात् प्रभुः॥२७॥
“By the mere touch of his hand the Lord killed that Ḍākinī, delivered her from her sins, and granted her liberation.
Passage 28
निकृत्य परशुच्छेदैर्दह्यमाना तु डाकिनी। मुमोचातीव सौरभ्यं धूमं सर्वाङ्गतो व्रजे॥२८॥
“When the Ḍākinī's body had been cut apart with axes and was being burned, an exceedingly fragrant smoke issued from every limb throughout Vraja.
Passage 29
तदङ्गधूमसौरभ्यैर्धूपिताः सकला दिशः। रामाङ्गस्पर्शमात्रेण तादृक्पदमगादियम्॥२९॥
“Every direction was perfumed by the fragrance of the smoke from her body. By the mere touch of Rāma's limbs, she attained such an exalted state. Colophon इति श्रीमदादिरामायणे ब्रह्मभुशुण्डसंवादे दशरथतीर्थयात्रायां डाकिनीवृत्तं नाम एकादशाधिकशततमोऽध्यायः॥ १११ ॥ “Thus ends Chapter 111, ‘The Account of the Ḍākinī,’ within Daśaratha's pilgrimage in the dialogue of Brahmā and Bhuśuṇḍi in the venerable Ādi Rāmāyaṇa.” Source control note Chapter 111 occupies registered source leaves 752–754 of the Pūrva-khaṇḍa volume (physical PDF pages 753–755) and contains 29 numbered passages. The chapter begins on the same source page as Chapter 110's closing colophon and ends above the opening of Chapter 112. All three pages were reviewed directly against the scan, and every passage has a continuous heading, matching Sanskrit terminator, and fresh English rendering.
