Protected by Rāma, the sacrifices of wise Viśvāmitra continued day and night for years, entirely free from obstruction.

Passage 34

Passage 35

शरवर्षेण वै रामो नीरन्ध्रं पञ्जरं व्यधात्। न यत्र प्रविशेद्रक्षो मन्त्रै रक्षोघ्नरूपिभिः॥३५॥

With a rain of arrows Rāma formed an unbroken cage into which no rākṣasa could enter, reinforced as it was by mantras that destroy rākṣasas.

Passage 36

प्रातर्माध्यन्दिने सायं सवनेषु त्रिषु स्थिरः। अधिज्यं धनुरादाय ररक्ष राघवो मखम्॥३६॥

Standing firm through the three Soma pressings—morning, midday, and evening— the Rāghava took up his strung bow and guarded the sacrifice.

Passage 37

एवं यावत्समाप्तिः स्याद् दीर्घसत्रविधेर्मुनेः। तावद्रामः सहातिष्ठल्लक्ष्मणेन सहायवान्॥३७॥

When the session was complete, Gādheya recognized Rāma as the Supreme Person. He honoured him with auspicious blessings and praised him with sacred hymns. --- Thus ends the seventy-third chapter, entitled “The Protection of Viśvāmitra’s Sacrifice,” in the dialogue of Brahmā and Bhuśuṇḍa in the *Śrīmad Ādi Rāmāyaṇa*. Textual notes The chapter begins on source leaf 443 below Chapter 72’s colophon, occupies leaves 443–446, and ends with its colophon on physical PDF page 447. All thirty-eight passages were transcribed directly from the 1975 scan; archive OCR was used only as a locating and typing aid. The scan prints passage 4 followed immediately by passage 6; passage 5 is absent from this witness and is represented by an explicit lacuna rather than conjectural Sanskrit. Passage 1 preserves the dense printed expression भूतिहरेशितुः, rendered from context as the sovereign Lord who removes adversity. Passage 9 prints विकरिष्यामो, whose context clearly describes scattering the Soma cups. Passage 19’s compact sandhi अद्याप्यबिभ्रन्न is preserved, as are the edition’s forms कलेशेन in passage 28 and यज्ञरक्षणो in the colophon. The surviving numbered sequence then proceeds cleanly from 6 through 38. No modern translation was used.
