…निकट श्रीभरतजी, श्रीशत्रुघ्नजी को बैठाय के परम प्रेम से श्रीमुखचन्द्रों को निहारि नवल ब्रह्मानन्द लेते भये। पुनि परम प्रेमपूरित पूछने लगे, ‘लालन! ब्रह्मर्षिवरिष्ठ श्रीगुरु वसिष्ठजी के दर्शन को जाते हो कि नहीं? साङ्गोपाङ्ग सरहस्य धनुर्वेद देखते हो कि नहीं? ब्राह्मणों को आगे से प्रणाम करि सम्मानसहित दान देते हो कि नहीं? अपने भ्राता-सखावर्ग के सङ्ग ही भोजन करते हो कि नहीं? अपने वीरवर्गों को सम्मान-प्रीतिदान देते हो कि नहीं?’ ऐसे वात्सल्यरसामृतमिले वचन सुनि के श्रीआर्यवल्लभजी कर जोरि के बोले, ‘हे श्रीमहाराजजी! श्रीमानजी का अनुशासन सदा ही करता हूँ और भरतादि प्रिय भ्राताओं से कहि के करवाता हूँ।’ इस प्रकार के विमल वचनामृत श्रवण करिके श्रीमहाराजजी परमानन्द को प्राप्त भये। तदनन्तर श्रीराघवेन्द्रजी श्रीलखनलालजी की ओर देखे। तब श्रीमहाराजजी इच्छा जानि के कहते भये, ‘ज्येष्ठलालजी! वागविहार की इच्छा होय तो जाओ।’ ऐसी आज्ञा पाय प्रेमपूर्वक सहोदर-सखानसंयुक्त प्रणाम कर के पधारे। प्रीतिपूर्वक परस्पर हास्य-विनोद-वार्ता करते भये तुरङ्गशाला में आय, तुरङ्गों को देख, पाणिपङ्कजों से पोंछि, श्रीमुखपङ्कजों से पुचकारि परमानन्द देते भये। अश्वसेवकों को अश्वसेवा सिखा के आप गजशाला में गये; वहाँ गजेन्द्रों को देख पुनि रथशाला में आय रथों के बाजिवृन्द को विलोकने लगे। तब सुवर्णमणि-साजों से सजे हुए खास सवारी के घोड़ों के पास आये, जिनके आगे श्रीअवधेशनन्दन का मनोजमोहन नाम का घोड़ा शोभित है। तिसके पीछे श्रीभरतलालजी का विजयविनोदी नामक, तिसके पीछे श्रीलखनलालजी का मानसानुगामी नामक, तिसके पीछे श्रीशत्रुघ्नलालजी का रणरङ्गी नामक तुरङ्ग सुशोभित है। तिसके पीछे हजारों घोड़े खड़े हैं। प्रथम श्रीरामलालजी निज घोड़े पर सवार हुए। पुनि श्रीप्रभु…

…and gazes upon the moonlike faces of all four sons with boundless love, tasting ever-new divine bliss. Filled with affection, he asks, ‘Dear sons, do you regularly visit the foremost seer, Guru Vasiṣṭha? Do you study the science of the bow with its limbs and inner mysteries? Do you bow first to brahmins and give to them with honour? Do you eat together with your brothers and companions? Do you honour your warriors and bestow gifts of affection upon them?’ Hearing words steeped in the nectar of parental love, the noble father’s beloved folds his hands and replies, ‘Great King, I always follow your command and have my beloved brothers Bharata and the others do the same.’ Hearing that pure nectar of speech, the king attains supreme joy. Rāghavendra then looks toward Lakṣmaṇa. Understanding their wish, the king says, ‘Eldest dear one, if you wish to enjoy the gardens, go.’ With permission, the brothers and friends bow and depart. Exchanging affectionate jokes and conversation, they enter the royal stables, inspect the horses, stroke them with lotus hands, and soothe them with lotus-soft words, giving them supreme happiness. After instructing the grooms in equine service, they visit the elephant stalls, behold the great elephants, then enter the chariot hall and inspect the teams. They approach their special riding horses, adorned with gold and gems. At the head stands Manojamohana, mount of Ayodhyā’s prince; behind him Vijayavinodī, Bharata’s horse; then Mānasānugāmī, Lakṣmaṇa’s; and Raṇaraṅgī, Śatrughna’s.
