Lord Krishna’s skin color (kala rang) is described in scriptures as Shyam or Meghashyam (the dark, radiant hue of a rain-filled monsoon cloud).. dark like a rain-filled monsoon cloud, like the depth of the ocean, a colour that seems to contain every colour within it. His darkness however is not the absence of Light. His body, His jewels, His peacock feather — everything seems to carry a radiance of its own. This radiance is understood as the Brahmajyoti — the spiritual effulgence emanating from Him. The light is not merely something falling upon Krishna. The light comes from Krishna. The darkness that carries it's own Effulgence
