That I decide to leave God and go on my own devices on my own term. Which is exactly the core biblical story. Again and again repeats itself in this pattern. Generation after generation. It repeats the same story too. So this is the most direct definition of the pride that afflicts all of our lives. When God's light is here, we don't know if we go on our own expeditions whether when we return and when we want him to be here, there is no guarantee. And yet we decide to leave. Can there be a better way to describe pride?
