When self-inquiry seems to stop working

She said, Father Ananta, please help me because the self-inquiry has stopped working for me. And I said, I have never heard such a thing. How can the self-inquiry stop working for you? So she said, when I started the self-inquiry, the minute I would ask, Who am I? Things would become very peaceful and quiet and I'd be still. and now if I do the self-inquiry, there is no peace, the mind is still noisy, so it stopped working for me. And I said that is a misunderstanding of what it is meant to do for you. It is not a way to indirectly get peace. It is not a way to come to a particular state. It is to bring us, I don't know what I said at that point of time, now it is coming fresh to say That it is to bring us to that silence, to that stillness where the revelation of who I really am can happen.
