‘You’ Have to Leave
The false 'me' that seeks clarity must dissolve for the clean mirror of Awareness to be seen, as the body-mind has nothing to do with true Freedom.
Just forget about it. [Smiles] Truth for Truth’s sake, Self-knowledge because it is Self- knowledge, because it is true. Nothing else. If you realize that your reality is outside this objecHve universe then how does one body having some special abiliHes in this objecHve universe going to help that one? So the reference point, the ‘I’ thought, so to speak is sHll ge^ng aZached somewhere linked somewhere to one parHcular body-mind, isn’t it? You are sHll feeling that one bundle of flesh and blood (like you were saying the other day) is the one that is coming to this Freedom. But it has nothing to do with this one. And what should happen to ‘me’? That ‘me’ in that ‘what should happen to me’ is not the same ‘you’ that is being discovered in this simple enquiry. IntuiHvely that which you found yourself to be, that is You. The claimant to that 'you' is not you. So the one who said… what you said about ‘Being just Awareness is very clear’ what you mean is ‘What you said about me being Awareness, is very clear to me.’ But what about these rest of the stuff this ‘me’ is supposed to get? That part is very clear to ‘me’ but this ‘me’ is not clear about that. The ‘me’ that wants anything doesn’t exist and this ‘me’ cannot ever become clear about Self- knowledge. It is that which is the dust. [Smiles] The dust says ‘I want to see the clean mirror.’ How will the dust see it? The dust has to cleaned - that is the clean mirror. So to have this clarity which you want the ‘me’ which wants the clarity must go. Otherwise it’s dust parHcles themselves saying ‘I want the clean mirror, completely clean mirror.’ But ‘you’ have to go for it to be clean. That is why Papaji [Sri H.W.L Poonjaji] oeen used to say ‘you’ have to leave.
Key Teachings
- Self-knowledge is for its own sake—truth for truth's sake, not for any objective benefit to the body-mind
- The 'me' that wants anything doesn't exist and cannot become clear about Self-knowledge; the claimant to 'you' is not the true Self
- The false 'me' is like dust trying to see a clean mirror—the dust itself must go for clarity to be possible
