Awareness & Attention

You Are Aware That You Are

True freedom is not gaining something new but recognizing that the 'me' who wants solutions doesn't exist - Awareness itself is what Sages have always pointed to, unchanging and ever-present.

Seeker

That ‘I am Aware that I am not Aware.’

Ananta

I am Aware that I am not Aware. So you cannot escape it. So this Awareness, this Aware is the substratum and it is completely clear but not clear in the way the mind wants it to be. So you are coming to the recogniHon that ‘It is not that I am finding a soluHon. It is only that I am dropping the problem’ because the problem is not valid. That is why the philosopher said ‘The only soluHon to the problem of life is to see that there is no problem’. Not to find a soluHon that way, but to really enquire into the nature of the problem - Is there such a thing? And this Awareness is all that you are looking for. What are the qualiHes that Sages have told us? Does not come and go. Is the primordial witnessing of all things. Is That, from which all arises and goes back into but it remains unchanging. It is not bound in Hme and space. Check and you will see that all of these applies only to this Reality, this Awareness this Self. Whatever clues that Masters has given us they all are true about this simple reality of your own Self. Now, ninety percent of dissaHsfacHon comes form - So then what? So now what? What about ‘me’? Am I Free? What did I get? Nothing. You don’t exist. That ‘me’ who wants something out of this, doesn’t exist. It is just a play.

Key Teachings

  • Awareness is the unchanging substratum of all experience - you cannot escape being aware, and this aware is what you truly are
  • There is no problem to solve - the solution is to see that there is no problem, dropping the false problem rather than finding a solution
  • The 'me' or ego does not truly exist; it is only a play appearance, and freedom comes from recognizing this
