What’s Going On?

The mind cannot accurately report on reality because it must limit what is into a small box to make it speakable; true answers come from the Self, not the mind's invalid conclusions.

Ananta

What’s going on?

Seeker

Seeker idenHty…

Ananta

Yeah.

Seeker

Just a … to check…

Ananta

Seeker idenHty, you want to speak about that?

Seeker

Seeker wants to get rid of the seeker.

Ananta

So you say ‘seeker wants to get rid of the seeker.’ Already very beauHful so spoZed. Now, if it’s being spoZed [Smiles] what has to change? [Silence] And before we go there also actually, before we go there actually, because actually let’s say all this is moving [Gestures of hands in air] yeah, provisionally let’s say it’s moving and somewhere we are trying to constantly decipher ‘what’s going on?’ where do we get that answer from? About ‘what’s going on? Like even to say this that ‘this is what’s happening like the seeker wants to get rid of the seeker or seeker is causing trouble.’ Where does that informaHon come from and is that credible informaHon? Or is it incredible informaHon? [Smiles]

Seeker

It depends I mean in the sense if I…

Ananta

What tells you ‘what’s going on?’

Seeker

If I as the ‘mind’ has the version of ‘what’s going on?’

Ananta

Okay and what else tells you ‘what’s going on?’

Seeker

And there is, it’s sHll a…

Ananta

So ‘what’s going on now?’ Let’s look fresh no, always. So what’s going on now? Where will you go to for the answer? [Silence]

Seeker

If I keep quiet I will need the answer because it becomes the answer in a way.

Ananta

Where will you go to for the answer?

Seeker

I go to my own Self.

Ananta

And what does the Self tell you? What’s going on? Let’s ask the Self ‘what’s going on?’

Seeker

Actually that’s the same but the ‘mind’ wants to make an answer.

Ananta

This is the thing so ‘what’s going on?’ [Smiles] is too big for the ‘mind’ to have report on or to have an accurate report on. And that is why it is the only one that can have the report. I don’t know if it makes any sense. In the sense that to be able to report that ‘this is what is going on’ needs to limit ‘what’s going on?’ in such a small box that it becomes reportable or speakable. I wonder if anyone is with me.[Smile]

Seeker

Yeah.

Ananta

To be able to translate ‘what is’ in to ‘this is what is going on’ or ‘this is what is’ is the very limited version and therefore the limited version comes from that which truly does not phantom the broadness of it or the subtlety of it. So if we did not go to the ‘mind’ for ‘what’s going on?’ …then all the problems are taken from the root itself. Because even to have a problem you must first make a conclusion that ‘this is what is going on.’ That conclusion is never valid. [Silence] So Sage is only one who has stopped referring to the ‘mind’ to get informaHon about ‘what is.’ Because what is, just is. You stop referring to this instrument to give a descripHon about ‘what is.’ What is now? Where will you go for that informaHon?

Key Teachings

  • The mind cannot accurately report on 'what's going on' because it must limit and box reality into a small speakable version
  • All problems stem from the mind's conclusions about what's happening, but these conclusions are never valid - the root of problems is removed when we stop referring to the mind
  • True understanding comes from going to the Self for answers, not from the mind's limited reports
