What Object Does the Room Not Want

When we rest as space rather than identifying with the body-mind object, the opinions and judgments of others cannot hurt us because nothing has ever touched space.

Seeker

I don't know this is my recent experience. I don't know why but everyone has an opinion about ‘this one’ [poinHng to herself] and generally it isn’t a good one you know like ‘You are like this, you are like that.’ I don't know why everyone has an idea about this one and she's actually so happy by her own and she has no problem but everyone's eyes on this one and as I say every everyone just throws something to this one and at some point, of course, I don't like this too because it's someHmes too much. So I don't know, I wanted to bring this to you. I don't know why people are just so bothered about this one but it's like this and I truly cannot understand and at some point really Father is just too much why. I just want to shut them you know, just look at your own thing why, why, why, you are looking at this one? And she does not do anything.

Ananta

Okay, so, if I may say something - If you did not have an opinion about that one.

Seeker

Which one? [Smiles]

Ananta

The same one. This one. [Smiles] Then how it maZer whether others have or didn’t have? What would it be to You that they have an opinion about that one?

Seeker

I couldn't understand.

Ananta

Yes, so like an opinion, if it is moving in empty space it cannot hurt anything no? So what does the opinion meet that something explodes? Is it another idea that we may have about the same one? Like even the idea that ‘they should not have an opinion about this one’ is just an opinion no?

Seeker

Yeah, it's like I try to be invisible and it doesn't work. I become more visible and I don't like this.

Ananta

Yes, so move this one out from the central character of the story. Whether invisible or visible it's sHll about the same one. Make it space… like the meditaHon you saw. [Smile] Make it about the space in which that one is appearing. Like I’m saying that if we have to take ourselves as something, we can start by taking ourselves space. Even that taking ourselves will stop but it's not a bad start. It’s a very good start. Because nothing has ever happened to space. So why the preference to flesh over space? [Silence]

Seeker

I don't know about preference but I don't know it just has a feeling. It has feelings.

Ananta

Yes, feeling, thoughts, sensaHons all percepHons, and if we try to find meaning for ourself in those percepHons, that is what limitaHon looks like. What feeling has ever hurt space? What feeling is not allowed to come in space? What object does the room not want? ‘No, no don't bring that in’ the room has never said. So unless we are taking ourself to be an object, the arising of other objects, even though they may seem like subtle objects like feelings, cannot hurt us. Of course the blessing which you may have wanted is ‘May nobody ever have an opinion about you.’ [Ananta Sangha Laugh] Maybe the simpler blessing which you wanted was ‘may nobody ever have an opinion about you’ but the conversaHon went in another direcHon.

Seeker

No whatever you give Father, it’s the best.

Ananta

I have to work with what I have in front of me, you know. If they were to come I would tell them ‘why do you trouble my daughter so much? Keep quiet. [Sangha Smiles]
