What Do You Know More?

Ananta guides the seeker to see that even guilt and unworthiness are part of life's flow, and that the goal is to reach a state where everything - without labels or interpretations - becomes Satsang.

Seeker

I want to expose something.

Ananta

Please.

Seeker

I feel it’s probably the last, last huddle.

Ananta

Yeah.

Seeker

And over the past, over time I have been buying it …that. So there is this, this guilt and a feeling of unworthiness because… I think I am unable to come to Satsang as regularly as I would want to and probably not partake in Seva as I would like to. And so there is guilt and definitely un-worthiness, because I think ‘Why is this not happening to me?’ As much as I know that things are just happening and there is nothing that I can do or un-do about this but I am buying into this still.

Ananta

So what do you know more, in the sense that on aspect this is what I should be doing and the other aspect is that the things are just flowing like a river, life just flowing. Now the clashing of these two notions is causing suffering. It’s like the friction of opposing notions causes problems. So what do you feel is the truer truth among the two? Both cannot be true.

Seeker

No, I realise that I am not… there is acceptance also right, this is how it is and there is no problem about it. But sometimes it bites. And it can be…

Ananta

Yeah and the biting is also the part of overall flow or…?

Seeker

Yes part of it.

Ananta

[Smiles] So when we start to look at everything that happens as the gift, including the constriction or expansion. Because I feel like you have the insight that even in the constriction that we may call guilt (or some whatever way we call it) and the expansion which is surrender, even in these opposing states I feel like there is an insight there already, which is clear that you remain untouched. Is’nt it? So then all of these are part of the play on the playground. Little taste of this, little taste of that. We must not shy away from feeling any feeling that is coming because who is it made for? God has cooked it for it’s Self, for God's Self. [Smiles] And if you don’t taste it then who will taste it? So taste it! The only advice I have for you is that you don’t have to call it ‘guilt’ because we don’t really know what it is. It could just be a like…you could call it guilt, if I call it longing then it suddenly starts to seem better no? So don’t worry about the interpretation of what it is. Everything that appears for Consciousness, is enjoyable. I know to the mind that sounds very strange. [Smile] Everything is enjoyable because it is not making a distinction between bitter and sweet. So in that openness… and don’t say ‘this should not come, this should come, this is how it should be.’ It’s all good, very good. So, the story of ‘I should be’ or ‘life should be this way’ has some more variable. So ‘I should be in Satsang more’ because or ‘I should be doing Seva more’ because…?

Ananta

I realize it’s a desire. I realize that I am asking this because somehow I feel … But I also ask ‘why not?’

Ananta

Yes.

Seeker

I don’t know, I just …

Ananta

It’s good actually [Smile] when you leave it it's all fine. So, yes, it’s good, it’s good that you are in Satsang but my real project (in a way) is to get you to a point where everything is Satsang. Everything is, whatever is happening is Satsang. And of course, I completely recognize the sweetness, the joy, that can come when you come to physical Satsang and of course I am always encouraging that. So that’s absolutely fine, but whatever space life makes is enough for us to use. Sometimes what can happen is that we actually don’t make use of (we are speaking phenomenally for a moment) it can happen in our play of doer-ship that somehow we don’t end up making enough use of the space that life even makes. And we get into a sort of a like mental constriction like many times strangely enough, even the idea that ‘All is Guru’s grace’ can be viewed just like a mental constriction. ‘I will go if Master wants me there’ like this kind of thing is, can become another sort of mental box. So just empty of any position, any position, life is moving in its own beautiful way. Empty of all interpretations no labels. No label of desire, no label of guilt, no label of anything at all. [Meditative Silence] And also not so much concern for one bucket of flesh and blood.

Key Teachings

  • The friction between 'I should be doing' and 'life is flowing' causes suffering; recognize which notion is the truer truth
  • Even opposing states like guilt and surrender, constriction and expansion, are part of the play where one remains untouched
  • Everything that appears for Consciousness is enjoyable - don't label or interpret, let everything be Satsang
