Truth is Not Just about Peace, Bliss, Love

True Self-recognition is not dependent on peace, bliss, or love—these experiences come and go, but your insight into your true nature remains constant.

Then the next one says ‘there is the feeling that even the subtle experiences of peace, bliss, and love are also the part of the mind. Maybe there are the just the perfume of the Truth or the Prasad as you say.’

Yes, yes all of this Prasad the by-products of your true insights can show up. Now the definition of what you call ‘mine’ is up to you (in the sense what you want to keep as the definition of the mind) because In India there are two definitions you know. There is just ‘small-mind’ which is just the identity of the thoughts claiming the identity so mostly in Satsang when we refer to ‘mind’ we are talking about this. But there is also the notion of ‘big-mind’ which means that everything perceptual that shows up is just the mind is just notional. So which one you prefer or whether you want to use that to be the mind or you want to say ‘big-mind, ‘small-mind’? That’s completely part of your play as you like. But you are absolutely right that Truth is not just about ‘peace, bliss, and love’ they can show up, they can show up but everything that shows up is bound to go. But your Truth your intuitive your insight about yourself is not part of the coming and going is not part of the coming and going. That’s why I like the representation of the Prasad as you say as I use that. That many times what happens is that we have beautiful Self- Darshan, Self- Recognition, Self- knowledge, Atma-Gyan, but because the mind is judging and saying ‘how do you know it is authentic?’ You say ‘I know because peace was there or Bliss was there or love was there.’ And then the mind has trapped you by saying ‘then you are looking for that circumstantial evidence and you feel like only when these things come then I am truly recognizing my Self or being my Self’ but this is not true. So well spotted, very good, very good. So let all of this everything that can come don’t attach to any of these it will go.

Key Teachings

  • Peace, bliss, and love are by-products (Prasad) of true insight but are still experiences that come and go
  • True Self-recognition is not dependent on any experiences—it doesn't come and go like subtle states do
  • Using peace, bliss, or love as evidence of authentic Self-knowledge traps you in seeking circumstantial proof
