Existence & Being

There Is No Battle to Fight

Truth simply Is, unburdened by our expectations or concepts of what it should be, even the idea of it being liberating - we must meet it completely empty.

Seeker

Truth Is.

Ananta

Yes, Truth is as it Is.

Seeker

Truth is as it is without any labels, any definiHons. Problem is only with the names and definiHons otherwise it is as it is.

Ananta

The problem is with the labels and definiHons (as such) and expectaHons of what it should be, then, what is the objecHon?

Seeker

Truth is liberaHng is what ‘they’ are saying.

Ananta

That is also expectaHon. (QuesHoner Laughs) How empty can we meet it? Even without the filter she says ‘But I heard, ‘they’ say …’ [Laughs at who these ‘they’ are] So, empty even of this idea, now? Suppose it is not supposed to be anything, according to you. Did the Masters also say that ‘The Truth, when you look for it with the condiHon that it is liberaHng, then it becomes the Truth? No. Now, how about that it is that liberaHng that you are not even concerned about ‘that it is liberaHng’?

Seeker

Say again, Father?

Ananta

How about if the Truth was that liberaHng that we are not even concerned about bondage and liberaHon? But if our idea of liberaHng is sHll in the box of the intellect (as I have been calling it the opposite of bondage or something like that) then again we have defined it in the box. So yes, empty of the even the expectaHons of what we have heard in the Satsang. All those were just pointers poinHng us here, now if the pointers themselves have become obstacles… All the thorns which were given to remove the other thorns, we have built a wall out of those thorns. [Laughs] It can seem like that, in fact that is what is happening most of the Hme. For those who have been in Satsang for long this is what can happen. So, now… empty of even the idea of liberaHng? It just Is. With no burden of your expectaHon or your idea of what it should be like, then? [Laughs] And did we go searching for whether there is problem or not? Not even that. Don’t avoid this! Because even behind our spiritual ideas, true spirit or true spirituality can be avoided. And whatever we expect from the Truth or whatever Truth is meant to give ‘us’, who is that one with expectaHons anyway? So, if Reality is just what Is, unburdened with the mental, intellectual burden that we put upon it, then? And what is this burden?

Key Teachings

  • Truth is as it is without labels or definitions - the problem lies only in our mental concepts
  • Even the expectation that truth is 'liberating' becomes an obstacle; we must be empty even of this spiritual expectation
  • Spiritual pointers meant to remove thorns can themselves become thorns - teachings become obstacles when we hold onto them
