The Guidance Received Independent of Mental Interpretation is Your
The identities we cling to (artist, special, enlightened) are always a step down from our true nature as God; seeing through this and laughing at the mind's proposals liberates.
I feel, the thing that I`ve been working as an arHst, there is a lot of idenHty in that, there is a lot of...I don`t know...
Not inherently. If the movement of the body leads to arHsHc outcomes, it doesn`t naturally...
Sorry?
If certain movements of the body lead to arHsHc outcomes, it doesn`t naturally mean that the movement is full of idenHty. It is if you take yourself to be that who is creaHng those outcomes- your limited body-mind as that which is creaHng those outcomes.
Yes, this is what I see, there is like this being an arHst...I`m an arHst...the need to be recognized, from you, too, or from Guruji [Sri Mooji] or from anyone, this need to be seen and to be somehow...to have an importance. I don`t know, I see that it`s...Somehow, I can`t idenHfy with this anymore a hundred percent, but at the same Hme I feel that I can`t be my Self a hundred percent. I know that it sounds crazy, it sounds...
No, it`s funny...
...I needed to say it, I need to say it.
So, what is the impression that all of us should have of you, according to that voice, what is the impression?
[Laughing] Well, for example, that I`m an enlightened genius, something like that...
[Laughing]...enlightened eccentric genius...
[Laughs] Yeah, of course...my God, I don`t know, Father...
Very good. Thank you for the courage to share that, it`s very good. But, I already consider you more than that, my dear.
Thank you [laughs].
I cannot step down. I know in my heart that you are God Itself. And God is the greatest arHst I`ve ever met. [Laughter] Guruji [Sri Mooji] said at one point – but that`s very beauHful what we are sharing – Guruji actually said at one point, that someHmes when I look at all of you, he said, it looks as if I`m telling you something very terrible about your Self. But I`m [inaudible] saying to you that you are God, and you are saying 'But, I`m liZle old me, but think beZer of this me'. But I am saying to you 'You are God' – no? But you want to take yourself to be liZle old me, but you want to be a special liZle old me. You see? And this is the nature of the human condiHon, that I am actually saying that we are One, we are one Being, and I`m not just saying it conceptually because I read it somewhere. I see that it`s true, and you are God Itself. You are God Itself.
I feel like I`m trying, but I can`t let it go, because if not...I don`t know...I know that it`s just a...'I know, I know, I know...' [Laughing] How many things I know [laughs ironically]. I know everything, oh my God...[Laughs]...I am sorry...
No, it`s very good. It´s very beauHful. What you`re trying to say is that you realize that all of these noHons can just be the mask, and actually you`re also discovering that it is the fear of le^ng go of this idenHty, in your case it is arHst, in another case it would be something else, in another case it would be something else, and all of us can have these primary idenHHes and the mind will always tell you that 'Without this, what are you? What do you have? What security is there? Suppose, all of this Satsang and about the Self, and God is all hocus-pocus, nonsense – then, what are you lee with? So, at least, hedge your bets somewhere,[Chuckles] at least have a backup plan'. It`s a compelling story, I`m saying it in a light way, but when it comes from the mind, it can be quite compelling, that 'Without this – what if you`re not God, actually? What, if you`re actually just this body-mind? What, if actually you`re just this body-mind? And without the arHst body- mind, what are you?' [Pauses] Is the body the arHst?
No.
So, who wants a cerHficate – what is it? 'ExcepHonal, enlightened, eccentric arHst`s cerHficate'? [Chuckles] Whom should I give it to?
I don`t want it [Laughing].
I know, I know, just poking at the mind, my dear. Remember the laughter when it proposes the same oppressive idea again. It`s good to laugh at it, because once we see it is a laughable noHon then it is not so oppressive and when Satsang gets over and the proposal comes from the mind, you remember that we laughed at it. [Silence] I`m very glad you`re able to share all this. It`s helpful for everyone, you see, because everybody has their arHst somewhere.
It`s not only about being an arHst, it`s a lot of ideas...
Enlightened, musician, rock star…
[Laughing]...Good partner, good...I don`t know...
[Laughing] Fill in the blanks 'Good whatever...'
Good whatever, yes. Good disciple, of course [Chuckles]... Thank you, Father. I don`t know what to say right now, but...Thank you.
Just whatever shape the mind is proposing to you, whatever shape the mind is proposing, the highest sounding shape. Even the shape which I said, that you are God Itself, even that can be taken as a shape. You see? But, whatever shape it is proposing, your acceptance of that shape for your Self is always a step down, it is never a step up. Always a step down from your Reality.
Key Teachings
- Identity such as being an artist is not inherently real—it only seems so when you take yourself to be the limited body-mind creating those outcomes
- The mind tells compelling stories like 'without this identity, what are you?' but seeing these as laughable proposals disempowers them
- Accepting any shape or identity the mind proposes—even 'enlightened' or 'God'—is always a step down from your true Reality as the Self
