The unperceivable Self knows itself through innocent intuition, not mental verification - allow the primordial sense of Being without turning it into narrative.

Ananta

If the sense of Presence can feel like a tangible, like the heart or some pulsation, I call it on the cusp of the manifest and the unmanifest, there’s like subtle manifestation, like a primordial vibration, the sense of Being, so let that also be. What witnesses that? [Silence]

[Inaudible]

Just insure that you’re not working at the level of kaleidoscope [perception] or radio [mental narration]

Seeker

I think I’m not. When you ask a question, is that a perception, it [inaudible]

Ananta

No that’s just an inference, do you see yourself as a perception? [Silence] because , therefore, that’s just intellectual inference- we must be on a higher floor because we can hear the sound of traffic coming from below. That’s an inference. Suppose you did not have the tools to infer anything, what do you actually find without them? [Pause] You are hearing these words? [Nods yes] You are hearing. That you that is hearing these words, do you hear that? Or, do you see it? [Silence] Unperceivable and yet it is obvious that it is you. [Smiles] That one, does it have desire or suffering or aversion or birth or death? [Shakes his head –no] That One. Now what will happen is that the narrative that we valued in the past will want to squeeze this one into that and say “Okay now what does this mean for me? What does this mean?” Don’t worry about what this means. It will also say, “Can I confirm this?” like, “Is it?” [Looking quizzically] [Smiling] It is unconformable through any other instrument. Except just like this, innocently. The most innocent is intuition. The most innocent and the most effortless. The minute you have to endeavor towards something, it is going in the wrong instrument. [Mimicking the mind and leans forward with focus] ‘Let me check, really check…’ Gone ! You see? [Snaps his fingers] Are you here? Yes. Which you is that? I can’t see it. I don’t have a shape. We can be natural from our intuitive insight. The minute we try to make it something that means something for ‘me’ my narrative, that’s when it gets confusing. [Silence] Now the mind may have one complaint saying that it ant be that simple. What have I been doing all these years! [Laughs] But it is. It is simpler than any simple.

Key Teachings

  • The sense of Being/Presence is a subtle primordial vibration on the cusp of manifest and unmanifest - allow it to be without working through mind perception or mental narration
  • The true Self is unperceivable yet obvious - it is what witnesses but cannot be witnessed; it has no desire, suffering, aversion, birth or death
  • Direct recognition comes through innocent intuition, not intellectual inference or mental verification - the moment you try to 'check' or make it mean something for 'me', it slips away
