Surrender Is Not Really a Doing, but a Recognition of What Already Is

The 'I Am' is the most obvious presence, more fundamental than any experience or thought, and cannot be grasped by the mind - it is what we already are.

Empty Of Seeking, What is Lee? Sometimes someone will come and say ‘Please, please help me’. And I cannot find a… [inaudible] way to help them other than asking them “But this ‘me’ that wants to be helped, where is that one? Who is that one?’ [Silence] Please help ‘me’ to become free. Can we say that ‘me’ will never become free? In fact, it is the oppressor itself posing as if it wants Freedom. Empty of that, what are you? For a seeker, if I say ‘empty of even wanting Freedom’ for many it can sound very scary actually. Because there is no guarantee, I have not said that ‘You have found the Truth’. I have said ‘Empty of the seeking what is lee?’ And you scared to even to go there because you could then feel like ‘Then what is lee in my life? If I am no longer seeking, I have been seeking for thirty years, forty years.’ But the thing is that spiritual seeking is the most unique problem, isn’t it? The only solution to this problem is to see that there never was a problem.

Key Teachings

  • The 'I Am' (Being) is more obvious than any experience - it is the foundation upon which all experiences (sitting, hearing) appear
  • The Self cannot be known through the intellect or mind - all concepts about it are false; it is beyond conceptualization
  • Surrender is not a doing but a recognition of what already is - we are already That which we seek
