Nothing Mental Can Be Resolved Mentally-Just Let It Go
The mind cannot grasp the Self; awareness is already present as the obvious background of all experience, and all mental problems must simply be let go rather than resolved intellectually.
This is the human condiHon unfortunately where we cannot let what Is just be what is. We feel like we need to have a handle on what Is by being able to raHonalize it. By being able to understand it. So we do it with our life, all our relaHonships and everything but we try to do it with the Self. Now the Self is so ungraspable to the mind that it can be so frustraHng that ‘Why can’t I understand this?’ And what is it about, it’s not about- are you aware now? That is clear, of course I’m aware.
It’s a liZle bit …When you say, are you aware now and it’s so clear, I’m not so clear.
Let’s pause here, this is good, this is a good point to look. So just innocently like a child, you’re hearing these words?
Yes.
So the hearing is a percepHon, you’re aware of this percepHon, isn’t it?
Yes.
That’s it. [Chuckling]

That’s it, this Awareness you did not see, you do not smell, you don not taste. You are Aware of sight where you are watching this body or this computer in front of you or the phone in front of you. You can smell food from the kitchen if there is food in the kitchen, you can hear sounds from the street, you can touch the computer, you can touch your hands, you see, you can taster, when you eat something you can taste, but you’re aware of all of these percepHons but this Awareness is not sight or hearing or touch or taste or smell. It’s none of these and everyone knows this, everyone knows this. But when we try to know it here [points to his head] or especially when we try to figure out what it means, you see, that is when the trouble comes. Then the mind will use everything, like it will create doubt about the most simple things. Are you aware now? Mind will say, ‘I don’t know, am I just faking it? Am I aware, how can I actually know?’ [Chuckling] You see? It tries to pull you out of that innocence, it tries to pull you out of that innocence like doubHng yourself, doubHng even the simplest thing, saying ‘You don’t even know that! What is going to happen to you!’ you see, all these ideas.
When you say about intuiHon, I don’t know exactly what it is.
Exactly, beZer someHmes not to use the word intuiHon. So let’s just say, when you’re not trying to use the mind to discover yourself and when you’re not trying to use some sort of percepHon [Holds his hand in front of himself] to discover yourself, you just find yourself. It just happens. All that is needed to come to the Truth is to let go of the false. You don’t need intuiHon, let’s say it like that, for the moment. So just, so how does it happen then? Just. So instead of ‘just’ we use the fancier term, intuiHon. It’s the most natural. It’s the most effortless. If you feel like you are taking some effort to use your intuiHon it is not intuiHon.
I’m just empty.
Yes, yes that’s it, if you’re empty that is it.
Somehow...holding myself and trying to stay myself [makes contorted gestures]
You can’t so any of that, don’t have to do any of that. So when the Master says remain as the Self, they are only saying, don’t take yourself to be the not self. That basically means don’t take yourself to be anything, remain empty. That’s why to remain empty is to remain as the Self. [Silence] Otherwise how would you remain as the Self? [Makes gestures of puffing up his chest, remaining as the Self] [Chuckling] how would it be to remain as the Self, you see? We can only let go of the false, the Truth is always the truth in itself, we cannot do it or be it, It just is. [Pause] So whatever the mind is convincing you is the problem, just let it go. That is surrender. [Silence] So either it can say, ‘I have this problem and that’s why I’m not there yet’ or it can make conclusions about how I’m there and all of these things. So let go of both ends of this pendulum.
even now it was saying, ‘I don’t know…’ and these kind of feelings were coming.
Yes, it’s okay. Some of this will also naturally also happen. Some of this will also naturally happen, that’s why we have Satsang so regularly. The poinHngs are the same, I’ve been saying the same things for eight years [Chuckling] just in different ways and many Hmes in the same way also. So just because I realize that the play of condiHoning to play out and for all of this to be vomited out of ourselves can seems like it happens in the play of Hme, that’s why Satsang is quite regular. So you don’t have to worry. It is not your job to worry.

Just simple like that, simple like that. Simpler, simpler, simple. If you find yourself ge^ng into some complex problem, is this like this or is it like that or …just leave it all, it has nothing to do with the Truth! It is just intellectual games. It is just intellectual games and actually it is mind aZacks. Even our efforts to resolve these sort of spiritual problems, we don’t realize, are just mind aZacks. [Silence] Nothing mental can be resolved mentally [Chuckling]. Nothing that is mental can be resolved mentally, it just has to be let go.
