Lose the ‘I’ Thought
Return to childlike innocence, releasing all spiritual concepts and self-references to rest in the unborn, spacious awareness where all things are perfectly resolved.
Good evening Father, I am struggling with an evolving health issue that comes and goes. But each time the bout of illness knocks the door, the Consciousness expands and retracts in duality. I experience non-duality. I feel the complete love for the universe in each phase but the loneliness also grips. Father, please show a way.
It’s very good, it’s already very good. It sounds like you are meeting everything that shows up with a fair amount of openness. Now whatever your holiest concepts maybe remain empty of those as well. Like, forget about Consciousness-expanding, anything that you may have even heard in Satsang. Just return to the innocence of a child. In that way, you will just very naturally and organically meet everything from your openness, from the spaciousness which is beyond space. I feel like you are doing very well already, just any reference that you may be making still to yourself (even if it is according to your mind a worthy reference even that) you let go of. Nothing of value can never be let go of. So you will never leave or lose anything as you let go. Just remain in the unborn, in your notion-less existence. Because what is, is actually ineffable and our constructs as high they may be they can never scratch the surface of Reality. So when Bhagwan [Sri Ramana Maharishi] said ‘Lose the I thought’ what is the ‘I-thought’? The ‘I-thought’ for spiritual seekers, specially, could be the highest references that we can make to ourselves. Maybe Consciousness maybe as Awareness but even these are just pointers. Just remain empty and I will just remind you of Master Bankai’s words ‘All things, all things are perfectly resolved in the unborn.’ My Master [Sri Mooji] also always says ‘There is no power greater than your Being.’
Key Teachings
- Release even the highest spiritual concepts like Consciousness and Awareness - they are merely pointers, not Reality itself
- Lose the I-thought by letting go of all self-references to rest in notion-less, unborn existence
- Nothing of value can ever be lost through surrender - all things are perfectly resolved in the unborn
