In Freedom, Everything Can Come, Everything Can Go
True freedom comes through dying to self-interest, letting go of each thought without identification, and discovering God's Presence already in the Heart.
The more empty you are, empty to self-interest, empty to individual will, the more you will deepen in this Holy Presence. The only thing that seems to get in the way is when we try to make this a dance between ‘me’ and God or try to make a special relaHonship between ‘me’ and God. What is truly needed is for one to die to oneself while they are sHll alive, become empty to everything that you take yourself to be. It was never true to begin with. So, although it may seem like a big sacrifice when we start, in actuality it’s nothing. I’m not undermining that it can seem a lot like [inaudible]. But in Reality, it is nothing. To go from that idea of having to surrender everything to seeing that you have not lost anything, in fact, you have given yourself the greatest gie possible in this human condiHon. It’s also a path from head to Heart. Because in the head it will seem like a lot. For our heads it’ll seem like a lot for us to sacrifice. But in Reality, it is nothing. In actuality, the biggest sacrifice is not a sacrifice at all. To our heads it will seem like you have to give up everything that you have valued, but actually, we have only valued that which has been valueless. And to come to true value, to come to true meaning - is a le^ng go of all that which is false. Nobody who has gone through this process has come to the end of it and regreZed it and said: “Let me have my aZachments back. I would rather have my aZachments back and let go of that which I’m finding.” Nobody has done that. Of course, during the process, all of you have tantrums of some sort or the other. And that’s to be expected. The simple way to let go of all of your condiHoning, is to make the project really simple. And all you have to do at any point of Hme is let go of your next thought. It is only through the belief and idenHficaHon with your next thought will you take on the false idenHty. So this, which seems like a lot to do, then becomes very granular and all you have to do, your one job is to allow that next thought to come and go in your mind without giving it any value or meaning. In this way…this is actually the simplest sadhana that anyone can do. And empty in this way, open and empty in this way – your Presence, God’s Presence within you is apparent. And that which is aware of God’s Presence within you is also apparent. So, a very simple quesHon to ask yourself is: What is this for? What you’re concerning yourself with? What is it for? Bring your aZenHon to what is presently concerning you or your last concern. Was it concern about God? On God’s behalf, I mean? (Answers an online quesHon: “of your next thought, my dear, thought. [smiles] Let go of your next thought.”) Because your thoughts are claiming a non-existent ‘me’. Your thoughts are creaHng with your belief the illusion of one who doesn’t exist. And we live in neglect of the one who lives in our Heart. Who is the One who is in your Heart right now? I am submi^ng to you and proposing to you that that is God’s Presence. What will you do with this informaHon? It should actually shake up our life. If it is true what I’m saying, then our life should be changed forever. Because the One that lives in our Heart – if that is the Highest Being in the Universe, then all our concerns about our life, and our relaHonships, and our security, and our money, all of them are non-sensical because God is in your Heart. Now, why would what I’m saying not be true? What intenHon would I have to share lies with you? There is no intenHon here to share lies with you. I have no intenHon of fooling you or defrauding you in any way. I just have to be true to my own discovery, which is God’s Presence in my Heart. And I’m compelled to share that with you as well. Now, you may say that he’s not a liar, but maybe he is deluded. But that is a risk that you have to take. That is a risk that you have to take. And that’s not a small risk. You have to bet your life on it. You have to bet your life on it. Because only when you take that risk for be^ng your enHre life that you can become empty to yourselves and live in God’s Light, live in God’s Presence. So, this is the worst-case scenario: that you got stuck with a deluded strange man who’s poinHng to God’s Light in your Heart, and you risk your life on it, and it turned out to be fake or a fraud. But I would propose to you that the greatness of what you could discover, the greatness of what you could discover versus what you take yourself to be at the moment, the greatness of that which is actually here is fully taking even that risk. It’s fully worth taking even that risk. Because if you have a chance, even a sliver of the slightest chance in this world to come to God’s Light, we must take that risk fully. Otherwise in all the other scenarios we are rushing towards our death anyway. There is nothing else that you can aZain here that show you Eternal Light, your Eternal Life. So given the possibility or the promise of what is to be found, a sacrifice of your self-interest is definitely worthwhile. Even if your mind’s doubt is true that I may be deluded. But if you are convinced that I’m not a liar and I’m not deluded, and it is true that God lives in your Heart, then how can you rest a single moment without this discovery?
