How Many Lives Did the King That Was Never Born Have?
True openness is admitting 'I don't know' - staying as the Self means remaining in open pure perception without labeling, judging, or believing thoughts.
for Father speaking
For Sangha speaking
I think I'm not open enough.
Show me how are you not open. Where is the close? You mean you know too much?
I feel like saying, ‘I don't know what's going on.’
Then that is the open, then that is it. That is the simplest definition of open.
Ok.
Then, how can you be troubled if you don't know what's going on? For trouble you need to know.
There is an assessment where I don't like to be angry. Because this anger somehow affects me inside.
Pull all of this into your ‘I dont know’. Whether you are angry or not. Whether you are too angry or not. All of these things, you don't really know. Let's admit it, I don't know and you don't know. Neither of us know, so why speculate? How many lives did the king that was never born have? [laughter]
I don't know.
See? I don't know, so why speculate? Highlight from Satsang- 6th May 2022 In Freedom, Everything Can Come, Everything Can Go Time: 2:09:35-2:11:16 Link: https://youtu.be/PfCbPCqMaWo Anantaji Satsang Excerpt – 12th February 2022 How to Stay As The Self
There is a quesHon [reading from Zoom Chat] “How to stay as the self?” If you can't stay like this, (makes a movement to hold on) force yourself to stay as the self, firstly what would that mean? When are you ‘staying as the self’? What would that even mean to ‘stay as the self?’
[Inaudible reply]
Yes so, so if you were to stay the self,, what would what would you be doing not going with an idea but many Hmes we have an idea that to stay as the self means my aZenHon should be fixated on some inner percepHon of the void or something like that because many Hmes we mistake the movement of aZenHon into a dark and empty seeming space to mean what the Master is poinHng to when the Master is saying open and empty. So it can feel like when my aZenHon is quote unquote ‘inside’ then I experience this vast dark empty space and that is when I am being with myself and to remain as myself I must constantly have that in my percepHon or something like that. So the first thing I want to point out is that to stay as the Self, has nothing to do with your aZenHon. AZenHon can be on the seeming objects of the world, it can be in the seeming sensaHons of the body, it can be on any emoHon that is arising, it can be on any thought any concept which is floaHng through your mind you see but that does not become an impediment of any sort in you remaining as the Self. So is that clear? No maZer what the content of your percepHon may be, no maZer what shows up in the universe, it is not, you are not to judge yourself on that basis that your aZenHon was on something that is showing up. In fact it only shows up when your aZenHon is on it anyway. So don't beat yourself up, don't judge yourself on the basis of any arising Now, then what can happen is only one of these percepHons, only one of these mulHtude of percepHons has the potenHal to garner your belief. So oeen I say this but some of you are new here so, so can you believe this –holds up his glasses, just try to believe this. Believed? You see you can't believe the pure percepHon of this but you can believe an idea about it or a set of ideas about this. So you may say ‘oh these look quite dirty’ or ‘I wonder what number, what number is there for these lenses?’ So those noHons, those thoughts can get your belief, therefore it is in these noHons and thoughts when we believe them that that belief of, that consciousness taking that belief, that noHon, to be valid or giving it the cerHficate of validity-truth value and saying this is true, (as part of the game of this leela -Gods Play), is what we call to idenHfy. But in pure percepHon idenHficaHon is not possible. [Silence] So to remain as the Self, all you have to do is to remain in an open pure percepHon, that open that you couldn't be bothered to label anything, that open that you don't have the aZenHon to figure out something or try to conceptually understand anything. That is to remain as yourself, no sense of having to control aZenHon, trying to say this content which is appearing is good, this is bad, it should only be like this, it should not be like that, all this judging, picking and choosing is not needed. You see? So so simple as that. Now what happens is that and Amba (A Sangha member) did a nice video on this just yesterday or today where she read some excerpts from the book, Knowing of the heart (by Ananta) where we were talking about how the the noHon of ‘I am the body’, it can seem like the primary idenHty isn't it? So we feel like if I’m just rid of the noHon ‘I am the body’ then we are finished. But the thing is that that idenHficaHon of you as the body is contained in most noHons-this is my house; these are my children; I am so many years old. So if you look at most noHons they will idenHfy you with the centrality of ‘you’ being this body, you see? So that gives you the ability to insert yourself in an objecHve narraHve of past present and future because you need some stuff to insert into a narraHve. You can't insert suddenly into the narraHve saying ‘oh in that moment there was space’ but in every moment there was space, before that there was space aeer that there was space, you see, so even subtler than space is your Reality. So it is impossible to insert you really into any story or narraHve. So what can happen is that in most noHons quickly enough is the story of a limited you- you as the body-mind, so even if you say someHmes I say that some thoughts can seem fairly harmless, you can say what's wrong with that? So you could say-the coconut is green, Ican't idenHfy with that. But firstly we can't say what the thing is in itself so we cannot really authoritaHvely say that in the first place but secondly very quickly you will noHce in your mind that the judgments that follow this first judgment will come quickly, you say, ‘Yes-yes but green coconuts are quite fresh, I like the water’ you see then the ‘I’ is quickly inserted into the narraHve of a seemingly harmless noHon. Now the good news is that by le^ng go of a noHonal way to be, a noHonal way to exist does not give any advantage because there is no addiHonal intelligence that you are acquiring through this noHonal way of existence. In fact it is taking you away from a greater intelligence which is your very intuiHve insight. It is present with you and for you in every moment So this stepping away from this very prisHne primal guidance, going into the head of humanity, seems to be that which then leads to this noHon of the individualizaHon of Consciousness, the Atma playing as if it is an individualized Consciousness- Jivatma and then it plays with the game of coming to Satsang to rid itself of the noHon of individualizaHon of the person, of the ‘me’ noHon, so that it can reveal to its own being Its own unlimited being. That’s what all of us come here for because it is seen or there is suffering caused by this apparent individualizaHon which never really happens but it seems as if it happened. . . .
