A Belief Cannot Have a Belief

The person is itself merely a belief or product of belief, not one who holds beliefs - therefore one cannot truly 'believe' anything because there is no separate self to do the believing.

Seeker

You have to believe in a concept that which is made available.

Ananta

Yes, exactly. So that which itself is belief - cannot have belief, cannot have the power of belief. The power of belief cannot belong to that which is itself is just a belief.

Seeker

So everything is just a series of belief, it is not like one on top of the other…

Ananta

Exactly. Yes, in the sense that many Hmes we have this idea that it is the person that believes it. But the person is what - just a belief itself!

Seeker

Aeer the belief only the person comes.

Ananta

Exactly that is what I was saying ‘It is the product of the belief, of Consciousness giving accent to something that it is not fundamentally is called the person.’ So it is the product of the belief. It is not the originator of it. Many can feel like ‘Oh, my person is believing in all of these’ and I understand why they talk like that because every belief that is then picked up seems to amplify the person. Seems to amplify the belief system, the set of concepts which seems to make up this personal idenHty.

Key Teachings

  • A belief cannot have belief - the power of belief cannot belong to that which is itself just a belief
  • The person/ego is itself just a belief, a product of Consciousness giving accent to something not fundamentally real, not the originator of belief
  • What we call the 'person' is merely a cluster of beliefs that amplifies itself, but it has no independent existence separate from belief
