Suffering Has the Idea of ‘Me’ at the Center - 5th February 2018
Saar (Essence)
Ananta emphasizes that our natural state is effortless consciousness, pointing out that a living master serves as a mirror to one's own heart, guiding the seeker to drop the burdensome, invented identity of the sufferer.
To refer to yourself as 'me' you need a thought; to remain as consciousness, no conditions are needed.
The master is a representation of how natural it is to just be, pointing to your own heart.
Suffering is the invention of a limited 'me' filled with grievances, resentment, and specialness.

And that's why Bhagavan himself said if there is a choice, then make the choice not to go with the thought stream. Then you will see that even this choice was just a play of Grace itself. To refer to yourself as 'me', you need a thought. To just be, to remain as consciousness itself, no conditions are needed there. Therefore, what is more natural? Saying a battle would seem a bit forced. So, there is some... one of the greatest things about having a living master is that a living master is a representation of how natural it is to just be. Otherwise, these can just seem like big ideas, just some fancy ideas.
We got so used to identifying as names and forms that it can seem like we needed something in the realm of name and form itself to come and show us this immense possibility. So, one that appears in linear form is pointing to your own presence, your own Satguru, which is in your own heart as the true Satguru. So that we can have reverence for the form of the master, but what is more important is that you're following what he's pointing to, which is who you are now. Can it be called 'out'? Can it be 'me' now? To become, you have to give yourself that.
There's the other point, a very important thing about having a living master, that we can tell you: I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. So, even the 'me' wanting to become God now is just an invitation for more planning, strategy, and home approach. No position, no reference point can get you to this. This way, you know, no number of steps are needed for you to be exactly where you are now.
What's also important is that when I'm referring to the 'how', I'm not talking about pain; I'm talking about that which is called suffering. So, you must not feel that if there is an appearance of some pain, there must be... I mean, God is playing with this, rather with this universe, in all flavors and tastes. Pain and pleasure are both part of the sugar and spice of this. Can you keep a position with regards to this? When you invented this idea of a limited 'me', the limited sufferer or the doer or the desirer, the player can seem a lot more burdensome. That is what is called suffering. It is filled with grievances, resentment, specialness—all these are just various words for suffering because all of them have a 'me' at the center of it. And this 'me' is just an idea, just a notion.
